So headcanon that Syldrathi don't adorn themselves. Like, no jewellery, no piercings, nothing.

So Kal freaks when he sees holes in Auri's ear.
Like, thinks 'what if the Terrans hurt her? Is this some sort of Terran torture?'

Auri then has to explain to Kal what piercings are, and show him how to put on an earring.

(He just didn't question how the hell Zila got gold circles in her ears, because of its not Aurora, he doesn't care.)
