I pace the bridge of the Obsidio. It's been eleven months.
Eleven months since the truth got out.

Eleven months since the birth planets for the Ra'haam were destroyed.

Eleven months since I watched Aurora die in my arms.

Eleven
Months

I take in a deep breath to calm myself, and do something that I have not done in years.

I sing.

"When I was a child, I heard voices."
"Someone sing and someone scream."
"You soon find you have few choices, and I learned the voices died with me."

"When I was a child, I'd sit for hours."
"Staring into open flame."
"Something in it had the power, and I could barely tear my eyes away."

I visualise my Be'shmai, and sing these words to her.
"All you have is your fire, and the place you need to reach."
"Don't you ever tame your demons, only keep them on a leash."

I pause, breathing deeply, and stare at the stars.

"When I was sixteen, my senses fooled me."
"Thought gasoline was on my clothes."
"I knew that something would always rule me, I knew this scent was mine alone."

"All you have is your fire, and the place you need to reach."
"Don't you ever tame your demons, only keep them on a leash."

I sing to the stars, and to a lost love.
"When I was a man, I thought it ended."
"And I knew loves perfect ache."
"But my peace was always dependent, on all the ashes in my wake."

I visualise the body's I have created.
The widows and the orphans that I've made.

"All you have is your fire, and the place you need to reach."
"Don't you ever tame your demons, only keep them on a leash."

The song fades into the black, and I sigh.

"I miss you, Be'shmai. I wish we had more time together."

I say something that I have never said to her.
"I love you."
