The girl with mismatched eyes POV

I lean over the counter of the cafe, taking shelter from the cold morning air.

"The usual, Aurora?" Kal asks me.

"What else?" I reply with a smile.

He turns with a smile, and tucks a strand of silver hair behind a pierced ear, revealing a tattoo on the back of his neck of three crossed blades.

"What's the tattoo for?" I ask, while looking down at my own tattooed arm.

"It is a family rite of passage. Get the tattoo, and your officially of age in the family." He says.

"Ooooh. Interesting."

He looks over his shoulder to flash me a cute, shy smile.

"What happened to your eyes?" He asks me.

"Heterochromia." I say, and blink my brown and white eyes.

"It looks beautiful."

I blush. "T-thank you."

He finishes with my coffee and hands it to me.
"What Uni do you go to?"

"Octavia. You?"

He smiles. "Aurora Academy."

"Sounds fun! What's your degree?" I ask with interest.

"Psychology. What about you?"

"English. I'm writing a novel."

"What is it about?" He twists a black piercing around his ear, nervously.

"Um, it's about a girl who is lost in time for two hundred years in space. That's all I can tell you."

"Not even a little bit more?" He pleads.

I laugh. "Nope!"

"Aw."

I take a long sip of my coffee, and take him all in.
He has multiple piercing in one ear, and olive skin. He has cheekbones so sharp that they would cut you if you kissed them, and long silver hair that is done up in a bun.

He's really hot.

"Aurora? Are you gonna answer me?"

"Oh, sorry, zoned out. What did you say?"

"I was saying, do you wanna y'know..." He tenses up.
"Do you wanna go out sometime? I mean it's okay if you don't want to-"

"I'd love to! Where are we going?" I say, excited.

"There's an old bookstore a couple of blocks down, maybe we could go there and get a coffee afterwards?"

"Sounds perfect!" I cry, and hug him over the marble counter.

He blushes.
"Um, no problem."

I pull away from him and check my watch.
"Mothercustard, I gotta dash. See you tomorrow!" I say, and kiss him on the cheek.

I run out the door, and into the cold morning air.
