"See, what I tell you?" Stephenie asked "there's more to life than—"
"stupid boys" El finished Stephenies sentence as they ran through the mall, not noticing that they passed the boys.
They went into scoops for ice cream, to see Steve at the front.
"Steve!" Stephanie exclaimed
"Hey Steph" Steve smiled, as he come out to hug her "Feeling any better?" He asked making El and Max look at her
"Yeah a lot"
"So what can I get you today, I'm guessing ur usual Steph?" Steve said
"Yeah also, a strawberry and a vanilla with sprinkles, extra whip cream" Steve got the ice cream and all the sudden Robin slid the door open
"We have our first sentence" she said
"Oh really what is it" Steve asked
"The week is long" Robin said using a Russian accent
"Well that's thrilling"
"I know. But, progress"
"Okay" Steve said turning around "we got a chocolate with cookie bits, a strawberry and then a vanilla with sprinkles, extra whip cream" then he looked at El "Wait, are you even allowed to be here?" he asked El.
The girls just made eye contact and giggled running out of the store "Bye Steve" Stephenie yelled before leaving
The girls were about to leave the mall but then heard a familiar voice—Of Mike Wheeler. Stephenie nudged Max and pointed to the three boys with slight annoyance.
"Oh you've got to be shitting me" Max muttered, turning to walk over
"Isn't this a nice surprise" Stephenies voice got the attention of the three boys who turned their heads quickly "your nana was it, Mike?" Stephenie said looking at Mike, who dropped his bike to the ground
"What, are you doing here?" Mike asked El
"Shopping" El stated plainly
"This is her new style" Stephenie said
"what do you think?" Max asked
"What's wrong with you? You know she's not allowed to be here, especially you!" He said looking and pointing Stephenie
"What is she your little pet?" Max asked
"Yeah, am I your pet?" El repeated
"What? No" Mike said
"Why do you treat me like garbage" El asked
"What?" Mike was clearly confused, at Els words as she'd never said anything like that before.
Stephenie looked over to Will who stood behind the two liars— the look on his face said that he had wanted to be anywhere but the mall, but he had looked happier to see Stephenie than at the bike racks.
"You said nana was sick" El reminded him
"She is, she is...really sick" Mike turned to Lucas for help with his clear lie
"Yeah, yeah she's super sick—That's why we're here, actually"
"Yeah, were shopping. Not for us but for her, for nana" Mike rambled
"For nana" Lucas said and Stephenie tilted her head a bit "we're also here to get a gift for you. Just, we couldn't find anything that suited you, and I only have, like $3.50, so it's hard"
"Super hard.. it's— it's expensive"
"You lie." El said "Why do you lie?" She asked, and Mike went silent. The bus pulled up from behind them and El looked to it, with a Look Stephenie couldn't quite name but back at Mike, stepping closer to him
"I dump your ass" she said firmly and both Stephenie and Max's mouths flew open in shock. Stephenie saw the look on Mikes face... he definitely did not expect that.
Stephenie looked at the three boys once more time before Max lead them towards the bus and into seats. They all looked at each other before breaking out into laughter, high fiving as they went back to Els house for a sleepover.
'You Must be an angel'
Max and Stephenie danced around Els room to 'Angel' by Madonna. Stephanie loved Madonna. because she was listening to it when Will asked her out... and she'd just loved Madonna since her first time listening.
"I can see it in your eyes, full of wonder and surprise" Max and Stephenie sang until Max stopped to see El looking at a magazine of the karate kid.
"Oh, you found Ralph Macchio" Max and Stephenie said in front of El on her bed
"Macchio?" El asked
"Yeah he's the karate kid, hai-ya!" Max pretended to chop a peice of wood and Stephenie giggled
"He's so hot, right? I bet he's an amazing kisser too." Stephenie said before leaning forward a bit to El "Hey uh, is Mike a good kisser?"
"I don't know, he's my first boyfriend" El said
"Ex boyfriend" Max corrected, and Els smile dropped a bit
"Hey, don't worry about it" Stephenie said, putting a hand on Els shoulder "he'll come crawling back for forgiveness in no time" she reassured
"I guarantee you, him and Lucas are, like, totally wolowing in self pity. They're like, 'oh, I hope they take us back'" Stephenie laughed
"Your lucky you have Will Steph, he's so nice and truthful" Max said
"I know" Stephenie smiled
"God what I would give to see there stupid faces right now" Max sighed, El smirked mischievously
"What is it?" Stephenie said looking at El
