Meagan P.O.V

I was sitting high up in a tree outside my cabin listening to my iPod, which is normally what I do when my sister Wendy is at work at the Mystery Shack. Well, I used to go hang out with her while she was at work, but her boss Stan Pines kicked me out because I wasn't buying anything. While Wendy was at work, I would just stay up in the trees because my dad was always trying to teach my brothers how to be 'men'. I had my guitar with me as well which I would normally play if my playlist was over or my iPod died. I was listening to Green Day when I felt the tree shake beneath me.

"Timber!" I heard my dad shout. I looked down and saw that my dad and brothers were chopping the tree down so I stood up and slung my guitar over my shoulder. I jumped from branch to branch until I was hanging onto one on a different tree while the other tree I was on fell over. I swung myself up and actually stood on the branch now and looked down at the boys.

"A little more warning next time you cut down a tree would be nice, Dad!" I shouted down from where I stood. There were all pine and oak trees around my house so I was at least forty feet up.

"Meagan Trixie Corduroy! Get down here now!" My dad shouted up to me. Oh crap, Dad's mad. If he wasn't he wouldn't have used my full name. I climbed down the tree to where my dad was standing and looked up to see that he was furious. "What were you thinking?! I told you you couldn't go higher than 20 feet on the trees and you could've died!"

"But I didn't! I can take risks dad!" I shot back.

"You keep breaking rules and acting older. You're not Wendy!"

"I know I'm not Wendy, but you treat me like I can't handle myself. I may not be fifteen but I can handle a lot more then you think!" I stormed back inside. I ran to my room and slammed the door shut. When that happened everybody in the house knew not to mess with me because I was mad. I flopped down on my bed and just strummed my guitar until Wendy got home. Of course that wouldn't be until midnight because she always hung out with her high school friends. I used to be able to go with her until an incident and she didn't trust me with them anymore.

"Sup sis." I looked up from my guitar and saw Wendy standing over me.

"Hi, I see you're home early," I said.

"Yeah, Thomson got sick, Tambry got grounded, Lee and Nate were out somewhere and Robbie had band practice," Wendy said sitting on her bed.

"Wow, I can't believe EVERYBODY in your group was out of the question for once," I said not looking at her.

"Hey, you ok? You seem really upset about something."

"Well, I was doing what I normally do while you're at work then Dad started chopping down the tree I was in and I almost died. Then he yelled at me treating me like a 5 year old instead of an almost teen. Then he said that I wasn't you and that I keep breaking rules and was implying that I shouldn't take risks. But he doesn't even know me."

"Well, ever since the incident-"

"Whoa you told Dad what happened?! What were you thinking?!"

"No, I haven't told anyone. But ever since the incident you've been acting differently so Dad started to worry. He just cares for you more because you haven't grown up yet. To him, you're probably still his little girl. I'm fifteen so Dad knows I've grown up, but you're only twelve so he doesn't want you to grow up."

"You're probably right. I just wish I had a little more freedom. I mean it's summer now and I don't want to be in this log cabin being treated like a little girl all summer."

"Well, I think you're in luck. Mr. Pines said that he was looking for more help around the Mystery Shack and his great niece and nephew are living with him all summer. They came a few days ago and I forgot to tell you. So I was thinking I could take you up to the shack and get you a job. That way you and I could still hang out without Stan kicking you out, you wouldn't be cooked up all day in here and you'd get some friends your own age."
