Junmyeon's mother,Madam Ji,stood beside him at funeral of their relative,Jongin.
Junmyeon had several wounds and bruises along with a broken arm. He was definitely injured but he secretly was thankful that he wasn't dead.

"My son! Why did you leave us so early,my dearest Jongin" Jongin's mother cried,as the priest buried Jongin's body. His father wrapped a supportive arm around her. Their other family members were crying terribly too, after all Jongin was the oldest and most loved child in the family.

"I'm so glad it's not you who died"Madam Ji whispered to Junmyeon. Junmyeon nodded,a tight feeling spreading in his chest as he remembered the look on princess Eun Rim's face as she was so close to killing. She looked angry, aggressive but most importantly she looked vengeful. He shivered a little.

"I could have been in Jongin's place"he answered.
Madam ji turned towards him, eyes stern and mouth pressed in a line. She had been noticing that Junmyeon changed a lot after he returned from the war,he flinched easily at the smallest of things ,he smiled less and never dared to speak bad about the kingdom of Silla, which he once used to dream of ruling . It seemed like the war scarred him for life, both mentally and physically.

"But you're not. So don't say stuff like that. "she said.
"Okay"he replied.

He diverted his gaze towards the funeral, and he fell deep into his thoughts again.
It was weird how his young cousin Jongin was nothing but a sack of mass now. Someone who was once so strong and ambitious, now suddenly has become lifeless. Junmyeon could never forget the first time Jongin had told him about his plan of occupying both Goryeo and Silla, and ruling it together. The mere thought itself had filled Junmyeon with such happiness and joy.

But he no longer felt that way. He now wanted nothing but to live a simple and decent life, get married, have children,go to work. He didn't want to rule any kingdom, because he's come to the realization that he wasn't capable of that. He could fight thousands of wars but he wouldn't win any ,and he'd become just like cousin Jongin if he continued on his path.

"I wanna get married, mother"he told his mother. His mother shrugged, taking her son's wish to be a command.

"I can get that princess back, you know if you still like her. I heard Chanyeol has disappeared. I could get my people to kidnap her "madam ji replied. Junmyeon sighed and looked angrily at her.

"I don't wanna be involved with her and your other son anymore. They're married now anyway"he said , sternly.

Madam Ji was surprised to hear that a commoner like Chanyeol had married a princess but it didn't really matter to her that much. She would find another girl from a rich and powerful family for her son ,and take this opportunity to seize more money for herself too.

After all, everything she ever did in her life was for money and power and nothing, not even Junmyeon's life, mattered to her more than that.
