Chanyeol's POV

"I now declare you the king of Goryeo!" The priest said and placed the crown on Joo Hyuk's head. He smiled at us all and  gently waved , standing up. The crowd clapped and cheered loudly for him.

"All hail the king of Goryeo!" Someone shouted and the rest didn't take long to follow. "All hail the king of Goryeo!"

I felt distant from my surroundings, like I was there but wasn't really there.
There was just one thing on my mind and it wasn't anything but mine and Eun Rim's marriage.
I loved her more than I've ever loved anyone but I wished we could wait a little longer to get married. I knew it wasn't in our plan to get married and we're only doing this for the late king's wish but my consent to the marriage must still matter.
I saw all the ministers and advisors paying respect to their new King as he sat on the throne, shoulders wide and chest wide.  He smiled and waved at the general public from time to time and then got back to attending his ministers.

I saw Eun Rim, standing at the corner of the room looking cut off from the whole place. Her face was flushed and her hair messy and I knew that she had cried the whole night. I wasn't sure if she had cried for her father or our unexpected wedding but I knew that I had to go and talk to her.

"Hey, princess" I said as I approached her. Her eyes were red but she smiled as soon as she saw me. I felt my heart clench at the thought of her getting hurt in case I don't get married now.

"Hi" she replied. I stood beside her and held her hand, comfortingly.

"I'm sorry I didn't spend last night with you. My mind was really occupied with ...you know the wedding thing" I said and she sucked in a deep breath.

"It's alright. " She was too good for me, wasn't she? "By the way,Your majesty was asking about the wedding. He wanted to know if you've made up your mind"
I bit my lip and stare at her for a few seconds before saying anything. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get married. Maybe I was worried about the late king's wish not being fulfilled or hurting Eun Rim. Should I get married just for this reason? Are these reasons enough to make me happy?

"Princess, I-" she cut me off . "I know. I know you don't wanna get married and it's okay. Don't worry. I'll let him know and we can soon leave for Silla. I heard Baekhyun wrote a letter to you? "
I nodded but I couldn't miss out the sadness in her eyes. I had this sudden urge to slap myself for not wanting to get married and I also had this urge to throw myself toward her and kiss her madly.
"Did you get any updates on the battle?" She asked

"Yes .the king is injured but he's survived . Our royal army is winning. Jongin is severely injured too and without his guidance, nothing will be possible for his army.."I said.
She nodded ,smiled and then left just like that.
I hurt her and there was no going back to it. But can I do something to make mends for it?  Yes I can. I can marry her and make her and myself happy and I knew this I what I wanted. I was scared but my fear is not bigger than my love towards Eun Rim and I knew I wanted to get married not because of any other reason but because I loved her.

I ran after her and finally caught hold of her hand.
"Eun Rim, listen to me" I said, huffing.
Her cheeks are tear stained and I cannot do anything to make her feel better so I hugged her, hard and tight.
"What is it?" She asked , trying hard not to cry.

I kissed the top of her head and said,"Nothing. I just want you to tell your brother that I couldn't wait to get married tonight"

*******

I wore a long ,red gown that ended at my ankles, and placed a belt around my waist. This is the dress of grooms during wedding and really,I had waited my whole life to wear it. But I never thought the day would come this early.
I looked at myself through the mirror as the maids braided my long, black hair and then tied it up into a top bun.

"Knight Chanyeol,Your majesty is here to see you" a maid said to me and I gestured her to let him in .
Another maid quickly placed over the head gear on my head and I stood up.

"Congratulations on your wedding, Knight Chanyeol. I'm here with another good news for you"King Joo Hyuk entered the room , smiling. His bodyguards were close behind him.

"Thank you, your majesty. And what good news might that be?" I asked. He gestured to one of his guards who handed him a sword.

" You'll be marrying princess Eun Rim tonight,so as per the royal rules,I should let you know that you will be titled as Prince Chanyeol of Goryeo"he said. He took the sword and gave it to me, smiling.

"Thank you very much, your majesty. "I replied, taking it. I felt overwhelmed by the sudden declaration but I couldn't deny that I liked it.
"I'll see you very soon, okay? I'll be leaving now"he said. He left through the main door along with his guards.

I sank into my seat, the sword in my hand and the maids rushed to give me some final touches.
Today had been quite surprising and exciting but there was still one thing left to be completed.
And needles to say,I was dying to see Eun Rim in her wedding dress and I could only imagine how gorgeous she must me looking.
