Chapter 12

Eun Rim's POV

"So when were you planning on telling us about Junmyeon?"Joohyun said after princess Eun Rim narrated the whole situation to her two best friends.
"I was going to. Soon but I decided that now would be best since I need your help"she replied.

"Hey Joohyun unnie,let her be. She must've had her reason. What we have to focus now is that the princess likes Knight Chanyeol but her aunt expects her to marry Junmyeon. Listen princess,you have to let Junmyeon know that you have someone else"Seung Wan said,reasoning out.

"But how?" I asked.
"You said that Junmyeon had invited you today and he mentioned that you could bring along a friend too. Am I right?" Joohyun said.
"Yes." I replied,unable to understand what she was trying to say.

"Then,you should take Chanyeol" she said and my eyes widened.

"Oh god. No. No way." I said. " That is not a good idea. What would Junmyeon's mother think of me? What would be his reaction? What would Chanyeol say? No,that's not a good idea."

Seung Wan sighed and massaged her temples.
"At first, Joohyun's idea sounded stupid but now I think that she's right. The only way to let Junmyeon know you like someone else is to bring that someone else to his house."she said.

I closed my eyes and thought of the first time Chanyeol had met Junmyeon. They didn't seem to be very fond of each other at the first sight. But maybe my friends are right. I have to do something.

"Okay... I'll take him today"I said. "Thank you guys anyway"
Joohyun smiled and Seung Wan hugged me.

"We'll always be there, princess" they said.

Soon , afternoon came and Chanyeol had agreed to go along with me.
I did not tell Chanyeol as to who Junmyeon was . I just told him that we were going to meet a friend of mine.
"Anything for you, princess" Chanyeol had said and not to mention the butterflies in my stomach.

I wore a blue dress along with black shoes. I also tied my hair up into a bun before the meeting.

Being well aware of how sick my brother still was,I didn't tell him about this invitation of Junmyeon's.
I thought that I'd tell him once we come back in the evening.
I also made up my mind to tell him about my feelings towards Chanyeol and decline the marriage proposal. I know that it would hurt my aunt and uncle but this is my life and I haven't known my uncle and Aunt for long so it shouldn't be much of a big deal.

"Hey, princess."Chanyeol greeted me as I made my way out of the palace.
"Hey, Chanyeol" I replied, smiling.

"By the way,do you never take any maids or soldier along with you? For protection?" He asked.
I laughed.
"No . I can very well protect myself,you see" I replied. He grinned.

After walking for about fifteen minutes more,we finally reached Junmyeon's house.
I was nervous. Not only Junmyeon was going to be upset about me declining the proposal but also Chanyeol might feel angry not knowing who Junmyeon was.

Their house was really big and I could see a lot of maids around the main compound.
Two gatekeepers greeted us by the door and led us inside.

"Where are we exactly, princess Eun Rim?" Chanyeol asked, following the two gatekeepers.
We reached an open balcony just behind the house. There was a table placed with all kinds of food and drinks.
I heard my stomach make a noise,as if on cue.

"Wow..." Chanyeol's eyes almost popped out from his face.
" Please take your seats, Madam Ji and master Junmyeon would be here soon." The gatekeepers said and left.

Chanyeol and I took our seats . I was really tempted to start eating immediately but I had to control. After all,I had come here for something else.

"What are you thinking?" Chanyeol asked , pulling me out of my thoughts. "You're barely saying anything today"
I flashed him a smile.

"It's nothing, Chanyeol. I just...I... Am not feeling very well" I replied.
Chanyeol was about to reply when I saw the front door to the balcony open and Junmyeon stepped in along with his mother.
His mother did not look very old . She wore a white dress and wore a huge head gear . When she smiled,one could clearly see the wrinkles around her lips and eyes.

"Hello,dear. I am Junmyeon's mother and I am more than happy to be your host today"she said.
Chanyeol was standing almost in front of me and upon hearing the woman speak,he stumbled back a little and I held him to prevent him from falling.
His face had totally lost it's colours and I almost thought he had seen a ghost.
He gripped my hand tightly and whispered in my ears," that woman is my mother"
