Chapter 39

Baekhyun helped Eun Rim get her war uniform on and gave her weapons to fight the war. He could feel the rage boiling in her and he knew that she wasn't going to spare any of the enemies alive today. He secretly hoped that this war would end today and victory comes to Silla and it's people.

And soon, together with The royal army ,Eun Rim and the other knights by his side,they raced to the battlefield.
There was blood and dead bodies and crying soldiers and spite everywhere in the battlefield. The scene was so disheartening that anyone who wasn't strong enough to take in something like this might pass out .

During the fight,Eun Rim fought bravely and killed many strong soldiers with just a few movements of her sword. She was furious and sad and grieving and strong at the same time and everyone knew that no one could stop her .
Her eyes searched for Jongin and Junmyeon as she fought even more soldiers.

She could see the knights fighting too ,and doing their best to save their country.

"Looking for someone,Eun Rim?" She heard Junmyeon's voice
She turned around and was faced by Junmyeon, smirking. She felt her blood boiling again.
Without any delay,she attacked him. The sword missed his stomach just by inches and he got up right after , hitting her on the nose.
She stumbled back a little as she felt her eyes water because of the pain but she recovered from it soon. She lunged herself at him again and this time the sharp edge of her sword scraped Junmyeon's side.

"Ow"he mumbled, struggling to keep the pain from showing on his face.

"Shut up" she said and jumped on his back as he groaned. She placed her sword at his throat, struggling to breathe because of her tight grip.

"Eun Rim.. please don't kill me" he whispered to her and she chuckled.
How can she not kill him? He was the reason everything bad ever happened to her and Chanyeol and Silla. He made Chanyeol's mother chose him over Chanyeol,he attacked Eun Rim's brother,he almost got married to Eun Rim by trying to make her falsely trust him,he was also the reason she now had to live without her husband. She  was disgusted  by him. She had  to finish him.

She jabbed the sword through his shoulder blades and then jumped down from his back as he fell down, crying in pain.
His shoulders bled and his face had an unreadable expression of pain on it. Eun Rim was a little guilty at seeing his pain but she remembered the pain he caused the other people and herself. She positioned her sword right then and was about to stab his stomach when a hand stopped her from behind.

Growling in anger ,she turned around to face the Baekhyun and he was smiling.

While Eun Rim was busy fighting Junmyeon, Baekhyun's plan seemed to have worked out great as Jongin attacked Sehun, taking him to be the king . Sehun and Jongin had a tough fight,with injuries to both of them but at last ,Sehun overpowered him.
He stood up, hovering over Jongin's injured body and placed his foot on his chest.

"This is what a traitor like you deserves. " Sehun said through gritted teeth as,he felt the life leave Jongin's body, painfully slow than what he expected.

Baekhyun saw Jongin's body and then suddenly everything broke into a chaos.

"Your leader is dead! You lost to us! " Taehyung announced and within second,the enemy armies started trickling out of the battlefield.

Baekhyun raced to Eun Rim who was about to kill Junmyeon and stopped her just in time.

"What?" She asked, irritated. He saw Junmyeon struggling hard to sit up. He coughed out blood and spat on the ground.

"We won" he said, holding her shoulders. A smile creeped up on her face as she lowered her sword and put it back in it's sheath.

She turned around to face Junmyeon.
"Get out of here now and never be seen again,for if you will ,I will kill you. And trust me,I will"
Junmyeon shivered and got up, limping.

"Also " Eun Rim added as Junmyeon started walking away. "Tell your mother that her daughter in law sends her heartfelt greetings"

As the war died down,workers from the palace were sent to clean up the city as well as pick up the bodies of all the soldiers who died in the war. The soldiers were laid to rest in the Royal graveyard,where the bodies of many more such great soldiers were buried.

Sehun supervised the reconstruction of buildings, roads and shops. He paid everyone who had lost their property in the war and provided them with new settlement areas and jobs.

Taehyung and Minho were assigned the job of recruiting and training new soldiers for the royal army to make up for the ones who lost their lives.

Minseok was sentenced to two weeks in jail and the title of a knight was taken away from him. But due to his contribution in the war,he was then given the job of a sub general in the royal army.

And after a week of the war, Baekhyun went about to complete one last thing that he had promised someone, sometime ago.
He knocked at the door of Jongin's once home which was now converted into a hospital for the old and poor people. The women who were once used as prostitutes were now doing the job of nurses and physicians, taking care of the patients.

The door opened and he saw Seulgi again and smiled at her as she did the same.
"I promised you, I'd come back for you didn't I?"he whispered and both of them shared a hug they had both been craving for so long.
