Goryeo's Princess || Exo Chanyeol

Chapter 9

As the celebration continued,Eun Rim and Junmyeon both got to know each other better.
She got to know that he traded in medicine and he was raised by his mother after his father died of cancer a few years after Junmyeon was born.

They both enjoyed each other's company but deep down,Eun Rim still couldn't bring herself to agree for the marriage.

"The food is delicious, Princess "He complimented as they had their dinner .
Eun Rim smiled in return.
"Thank you but I-"

"Princess Eun Rim!"A deep male voice called out from behind her.
And Eun Rim had to admit,he looked gorgeous.

"Chanyeol"she stood up. Chanyeol bowed
"What brings you here? "She said.

Chanyeol noticed Junmyeon,who stood up beside the princess.
"Oh,my apologies, Princess. I didn't realize you had company" he replied, looking at Junmyeon.

"No,it's completely fine.you should join us "Eun Rim offered .
Junmyeon and Chanyeol had a small eye contact and then looked away from each other.
"Sure"Chanyeol agreed, smiling and sitting in front of the couple.

"Junmyeon-sshi,this is my friend Chanyeol who is one of the special knights of Silla. Chanyeol-sshi, this is Junmyeon my......guest"she introduced the both of them.
She felt a little awkward in using the words 'future husband'.

They both shook hands.

"So...um.. the celebrations are nice. This is the first time I've been in a Royal wedding and it's nice" Junmyeon said.
"I feel that weddings of all sort are beautiful, though. But obviously,royals have a different way of weddings" The princess replied.
Chanyeol gazed at her, smiling.

Suddenly, Eun Rim saw her aunt approaching them.
"Junmyeon.... the celebrations for the common people are over now. It's only for the royal guests now. We should get going"her aunt said.

"Oh."he sounded sad. "Yes. I will. "He turned and looked at Eun Rim.
"I shall see you soon, princess"  Junmyeon said and kissed her hand ,bowing.
Eun Rim smiled.

And with that, Junmyeon left .

She closed her eyes and thought of Junmyeon. She did like him. But marriage....she wasn't very sure. They say marriage needs that spark between two people and she couldn't feel that spark between them,at least,not yet.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when Chanyeol cleared his throat, visibly annoyed at her absent mindedness.

"I'm so sorry. I was just thinking about something"she smiled at him.
He returned back the smile.
"I understand, princess. So.. that guy is your lover?"he asked, catching her off guard.

"No,no. We just met today. How could I possibly love him already?"she laughed but it was not the whole hearted laughter. It was more of a nervous laughter.
Chanyeol smirked." It just takes one look to fall in love, princess. One look can change everything."

Eun Rim felt her cheeks turn warm.

She usually wasn't the kind to get nervous around guys or blush but today was exceptional. She felt more feminine than she usually does,for she just wanted to feel like a sophisticated,shy princess rather than a brave, dangerous warrior.

Also,she was surprised how well she got mixed up with Chanyeol and Junmyeon. Usually,she didn't socialize much but now that she made two new friends,she actually felt more confident about her social skills.

Chanyeol soon took leave to join his friends and the princess was finally joined by her friends,Joohyun,Seung Wan and Yixing.

A few hours passed and the celebrations were almost about to end ,when Chanyeol approached Eun Rim,this time with his friends.
At that time , princess Eun rim was with Joohyun and Seung Wan.

"Princess, it's nice to see you again. You look beautiful"Baekhyun compliments.
The others greet her with equal enthusiasm.
"It's nice to meet you all again" she bowed politely.
Joohyun slightly pinched the princess to remind her of the promise she made;of introducing the Knights to them.

"Knight,these are my friends, Joohyun and Seung Wan. "She said.
Chanyeol in turn introduces each Knight individually.
Both the girls were almost jumping with happiness on being introduced to the handsome men.
They all smiled back but before the conversation could go any further, Prince Kyungsoo approached them and informed them that the firework show was about to begin .

Hearing this the younger knights, Sehun, Baekhyun and Taehyung, immediately left for the show.
Minho and Minseok politely took leave and made their way to the show.

Once again,it was Chanyeol left with the Princess.

"Chanyeol-sshi. You wanna see something?" The princess asked.

"Like...what?"

"Come with me. I'll show you ."she didn't even let him reply .She dragged him by the hand and took him to a tall building,a little away from the palace.

By the time they reached the top of the building,they were  both out of breath. They were on a terrace and from there,the whole city could be seen. Chanyeol was mesmerised.
It was beautiful. And sharing that moment with the princess made it even more special.

"It's breathtaking, princess. It really is" he said,almost whispering.

She smiled .

The fireworks went off and the sky was filled with beautiful patterns of various colors, making the moment more special for both of them.

Chanyeol adored the colors as if he were a small kid, pointing out various patters and colors of the fireworks to the princess.

Eun Rim too was contented at that moment but the fireworks did not entertain her as much as looking at Chanyeol's face did. She saw the sparkle in his eyes and the way his mouth widened into a smile every time a new firework was lighted. He was childlike, innocent and pure hearted.

And she knew,deep inside,she really wasn't ready for her marriage with Junmyeon. After all,she had a new feeling growing in her heart.
