Bumuntong-hininga siya. "People like us born with nothing can be anything... but it's also easier for some people to erase us."
Naguguluhan akong napatingin sa kanya.
"People with money, power, and influence think and act differently than the rest of us commoners, so I need you to be careful if you're going to be part of James Del Valle and his world."
Kinausap niya ako na parang alam niya ang nangyayari. It's scary. I stared at my friend. I wanted to ask her if she knew something, but I couldn't risk her asking me in return if she didn't.
Umangat ang kanyang mata sa likod ko at sinundan ko ang kanyang tingin. Agad na nagningning ang aking mga mata, ng makita ang kanya.

"Hi, you okay baby?" Naglakad siya palapit at sinabi iyon habang nakatingin sa mga mata ko, sa mababa, at intimate na tono. Na parang kami lang. Na parang hindi nakikita ni Ellena ang nangyayari ngayon.
He spoke in a way that should have made me shy, but it didn't. For some reason, I felt calmer in his presence. "Bakit ka andito? Don't you have important things to do?"
