Chapter 9

I left the hospital the next day. When I got home I immediately ran upstairs, into my room and flopped onto my bed. Mum came in with a cardboard box.

"Delivery from Charlie!" She called. I sat bolt up. She came and sat next to me. I heard rustling in the box. She put the box on my lap. There was a note on the box.

Dear Millie, here's a little something to keep you company! :)

I opened it and gave a little scream.....

Looking up at me was a little puppy. A kelpie to be precise. I picked him up and hugged him tight. Then I grabbed my phone out and texted Charlie.

"What are you going to call him?" She asked, once I had out the phone down.

"I think I'll call him..... Loki!" I told her. She smiled and hugged me. Then she left me alone to Skype Charlie. I talked to him for 2 hours. I showed him Loki and how he loved me already.

"You have to come over!" I told him. He grinned.

"Sure! I'll be over in 10 minutes." He stopped the chat. I closed my laptop and lay on my bed. Loki came up to me and licked my nose. I kissed him on the nose and gave him a little push. He lay done next to me and snuggled me.

5 minuets later I heard the door bell ring. I jumped of the bed, picked up Loki and ran to the door.

I opened it to see a grinning Charlie. He kissed me on the cheek then took Loki out of my hands and held him up like he was in the movie, The Lion King. I started laughing. He looked at me, his eyes locked onto mine. I ran up to him and hugged him tightly. He brought Loki inside of the hug and hugged me too.

"Why?"I asked.

"Why the why?"

"Why'd you get me Loki??"

"Well, you've been through a lot and I love you so much. Plus I knew you'd want someone around, when your mums at work." He told me. He then shut the door and put Loki down. I kept looking at him.

"I love you, you know?!" I told him. He smiled and kissed me. He stopped as mum walked into the hallway.

"I have to go to work guys, but Charlie, you're welcome to stay." She told us.

"Cya, mum!" I said.

"Thanks! Bye mrs. Smith." Charlie added. We watched her hop into her car and drive off. Charlie plopped onto the couch and picked Loki up. Loki yapped and licked Charlie's face. I sat down next to Charlie.

"Hey, Millie? Can I ask you a question?" He asked.

"Ummmm... Yeah, sure." I replied.

"Where is your dad?"

"Oh....." I said. "He... Well he was a soldier in the army," I paused and looked up at Charlie, just to make sure he was listening. "He went to Afghanistan to fight.... And... He...." I burst into tears. Charlie put his arm around me and pulled me closer. There was something about his grip that was so safe and comforting that I stopped crying and sat up straight.

"He got shot. Twice in the head, once in the chest and 3 times through his neck." Yet again I burst into tears, and this time Charlie couldn't stop me from crying. Loki came and licked the tears of my cheek. I smiled and started laughing, and crying at the same time. I looked up at Charlie and stopped crying. She leaned I. And started kissing me.

"Hey, there's a party, that I've been invited to, coming up and it's a plus one, so if you wanted you could come?"

I smiled, wiped the tears away and giggled.

"Of course! I'd love to come!" I replied. He smiled his amazing smile and hugged me. He lifted me up and put me on his lap. I allowed him to do so. I began kissing him, again. He picked me up, walked up the stairs, into my room and dropped me on the bed. I think that's enough information for now. But I'm pretty sure you can guess what happened next, and yes, of course we used protection!

Charlie slept over at my place that night and the next morning he made breakfast. What is it with the boyfriends I have and how they can cook so well??!!
