"Wrong? No, Miss Summers, everything is fine. I must fly to Russia for business. I should only be gone overnight, but I wondered if you would like to accompany me. I'm not sure leaving you here would be the safest thing right now, but I understand if you want to stay with Vinnie. He speaks very highly of you," he smirked at me and pressed his lips together. "It's your decision, though. No pressure."

"I'll go with you. Please don't leave me with him," I said, walking up to his brown wooden desk. "I mean, thank you, sir. I would love to come with you," I smiled.

"Wonderful. Jake will be thrilled, I'm sure. We leave tomorrow night. I will organize for a seamstress to come over tomorrow and help you find an appropriate dress for dinner."

"You're taking me to dinner?"

"Yes, it's a business dinner for all of my clients. I put it on yearly for my very best clients and their partners. It is quite formal, so I will have someone visit you here with some dresses. Oh, and pack for the cold." he said, standing. "Have a good night's rest, and I will see you tomorrow."

"Thank you, sir." I smiled.

----------

"You needed a dress, young lady?" The seamstress said in a thick German accent.

"Dress, yes. I need one for my dinner with Mr Morgan."

"I have spoken to Mr Morgan. He tells me you need a ball gown. I have brought you some beautiful dresses. Try them, " she said, pushing me into one of the empty bedrooms. On the bed lay five beautiful dresses. One more gorgeous than the next, but only one caught my eye. I'm not sure if it was because of how it fit me or if it was the fact that I had never seen anything like it before in my life. The glittering nude dress clung to my body like a second skin, and the delicate red details that ran over the dress were beautiful. It was stunning, and I felt like a queen as I looked in the mirror. It just felt right.

"Very pretty, perfect fit. It looks like blood on the skin but pretty blood. Lovely." she said, smiling.

"Oh my gosh, you're right. It does. I can't wear this to dinner with Vamp... I mean, my boss might not appreciate it."

"He likes it, he chose this one himself, but he told me to give you choices. I gave you choices," she said, pointing to the bed with the other gowns. "Your handsome boss did like this one." she touched the dress, "Said it was perfect for you but wanted you to choose for you. You like it?"

"I love it. It's perfect. Are you sure he will approve?"

"You are a pretty girl. He already approves." she pinched my cheeks and laughed. "You keep it, and I will be on my way. Nice to meet you." she picked up the other dresses and left the room.

"Wait, how do I pay you for this?" I called to her.

"He has already paid. He is a good boy," she called back. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. Did he choose this for me? It fits me perfectly. How did he know?

I heard a knock at my door and saw Jake staring at me. "Wow, I want to eat your dress right now. It actually looks good on you; shit, did I just say that? Well, that's disturbing. I think I'm getting horny. I need to find me some sweet ass." He rubbed his hands together and smiled.

"What do you want, Jake?"

"Oh, boss said to tell you we leave in a few hours. Be downstairs by seven. If you are late, I will leave without you." he said, turning away.

"I'll be there. Thanks,"

"Feel free to be late," Jake smiled and walked away. "Vinnie, come and check your girl," Jake called down the hall, laughing. I ran to the door, shut it, and locked it. Damn him!

---------

"Oh great, you're here," Jake grumbled as I put my suitcase by the front door.

"It's not even seven o'clock yet." I protested.

"I was hoping you would be late." he looked away, but I'm pretty sure he was smiling to himself.

"Sorry to disappoint you,"

"It's ok. You do it every day. I'm used to it." Jake snapped, pulling on his long black coat and flicking up the collar.

"Oh, is someone cranky because he couldn't get laid?" I teased him.

"How dare you. I always get laid. They are lining up for a piece of this," he yelled, pointing to his crutch.

"Yeah, lining up at the front door trying to escape you. I hear the taxi service holds a parade for you as you give them so much business from your unsatisfied women." I was proud of that.

"That's it," he yelled, dropping a black suitcase on the ground. "You and me upstairs now. I'll fuck you so hard. I'll ruin you for all other men."

"Now, Jacob, we don't need Miss Summers thinking about that sort of stuff, and you certainly don't want more names on that taxi list." Mr Morgan cut Jake off as he walked down the stairs in a fitted navy suit and long black trench coat. "You don't want to give vampires a bad name, son, especially in the bedroom." he smiled as he walked past a fuming Jake.

"She couldn't handle me anyway," Jake grunted.

"Miss Summers, I trust you found yourself a suitable dress for this evening?" Mr Morgan said, ignoring Jake's tantrum behind him.

"I did, thank you, sir. It's beautiful. You didn't have to do that," I pushed my hair behind my ears and smiled.

"You are most welcome. You are doing an amazing job. It's the very least I can do for you and your loyalty. I appreciate all your hard work. You truly are as good as your reputation, better in fact," he said, winking and pulling out his phone from his suit pocket. "Excuse me ... Hello... Oh hello ...... I cannot tonight. We are leaving for Russia ...." he walked out the front door, talking on his phone in a very soothing and gentle tone. My heart sank a little as I guessed it was a girl.

Stop it, Ebony. He is your boss and a goddamn vampire. He is also probably the best-looking man on the planet; of course, he has lots of pretty girls, perfect girls, girls who don't work for him and probably do all the stuff you won't.

"What the hell are you doing? Are you actually talking to yourself? Is that because you have no friends?" Jake said, pushing past me with bags in his hands.

"Oh, I thought we were best friends," I made a sad face.

"That's the saddest shit I ever heard. You thought wrong." he laughed. "Get in the car."

As tough as Jake was, I think he was starting to ease up around me. I mean, he's never going to be pillow fight friend material, but I do enjoy our, whatever it is, we are.

I followed him outside and towards the limousine. I watched three more men. I'm guessing vampires in black suits greet Jake with loud cheers and laughter. They all patted each other on the back and laughed about some inside joke about vaginas like they always do. I didn't listen; I just turned around and walked away.

"You must be the new assistant?" One of the men said. He looked pretty young but very handsome with his long dark hair gelled to the side and his big brown eyes. He had a very welcoming smile, and I was instantly drawn to him. He held out his hand to me. "Hi, my name is Callan."

"Hey, hi. My name is Ebony. It's nice to meet you. Do you work for Mr Morgan as well?"

He just smiled and shook his head. "No, I'm his son."
