Evan has been distancing himself from me lately. And I don't know why. Vinny and Jeff just think maybe he's upset about something, but I don't know what I did to upset him. We haven't fought or anything, and I really don't think he's mad at me.

At least, I hope he isn't.

Finally, I corner him in the hallway of one of our houses that is stuck together and he looks at me with a saddened look in his beautiful green eyes. Never have I ever seen him like this before. It's ... haunting. To see someone who's like a freaking tank both physically and mentally/emotionally, acting sad is soul-crushing.

"Evan, what is wrong?" I ask.

"Not now," he says.

"No," I say, stepping in his path. He looks up at me.

"Please, y/n," he begs. "I can't right now."

Suddenly, he clutches his head and shrinks a little onto himself. He is shaking. His eyes are squeezed shut. I reach out and touch him, but he jerks away.

"Evan, talk to me!"

"You won't love me anymore if you find out what I am," Evan says quietly, so much so that I wonder if I even heard him in the first place.

"Yes, I will. Remember that. I will always love you."

"I ... God, this is so hard ... "

"It's okay, I'm right here. You're fine. Just tell me what's going on."

"I think I'm possessed."

I blink. "Okay."

"You don't believe me."

"Ev, of course I do. It's just not something that you hear every day, you know?"

He laughs,  but there's no humor in it. "I'm so sorry."

"Don't be sorry. You didn't ask for this."

He looks at me. "His name is Habit." Tears fill his eyes.

"Okay. Tell him to fuck off," I say.

"I did. He's still there ... laughing at me."

"Tell him he's a coward and you're stronger than he is."

Evan suddenly bursts out laughing. But then his voice gets deeper, more distorted. He looks at me, and it is not Evan that I am looking at anymore.

It's Habit.
