"Please tell me you are on your way home," I practically whined into the phone, making Mitch chuckle.

"I promise, baby. I'm heading to the airport right now. I'll be home by the time your shift at the diner is over."

I bit my lip, trying to stop the tears. "Y/N," his voice came softly through the phone. "You okay, baby?"

"It's just," I took a deep breath to calm down. "I know you love protecting people, but. . . I miss you. The whole time you are on a mission, I can't stop worrying. I get so scared whenever the phone rings, thinking it's Hurley telling me something went wrong on the mission."

"Y/N," he sighed.

"I'm sorry, Mitch. I know how much you love your job, but. . . I can't help but think what if. What if something happens? What if you get really hurt? What if you never come home?"

"Baby, listen to me. I will always come home because you are my home. I know my job is dangerous and I come home beaten up some times, but you have to trust me. I am always careful. Not for me. But for you. Always for you. I love you, Y/N. I promise I will always come home."

"I love you too, Mitch. And I'm sorry. I just worry about you."

"I know you do, babe. I worry about you, too."

"Well," I sighed. "I should probably go. I have to get ready for work. I'll see you after?"

"I'll see you after," he said softly.

"I love you," I said, quickly.

"I love you too," he chuckled.

I pulled my hair out of the ponytail and ran my hands through my hair as I walked to my car. When I sat down in the driver seat, I couldn't help but sigh. I hadn't had a chance to sit down once today. As I started my car, a big smile made its way to my lips as a thought crossed my mind.

Mitch was home.

I felt like a thirteen year old girl about to see her crush at school as I drove home. Mitch and I were dating for three years when we bought our first apartment. A year later, he proposed.

The CIA has strict rules, rules that Mitch broke. He wasn't supposed to tell me his job until we were married, but he only lasted a week and a half after joining Hurley's team. We had been dating a little over a year when he told me.

When I got to our apartment, I quickly parked the car and headed inside. I unlocked the door but stopped when I noticed all the lights were off.

"Mitch?" I called out. I looked down at my watch to see that his flight landed forty minutes ago. "You should be here by now," I mumbled.

I gasped when I felt someone step behind me. "Aww your little fiancé is late?"

Whoever was behind me was definitely not Mitch. My hands started to shake as I felt the man's breath on my neck. "Too bad," he chuckled sending a shiver down my spine.

I gasped when the man wrapped one arm around my waist and used his free hand to hold a cloth to my mouth. I tried to fight him off, but he was stronger than I was.

My vision started to go black as the room began to spin. I fell to the ground, unable to fight anymore. I could see the man standing over me with a smirk.

Something about that smirk seemed familiar.

I heard him mumble something before my vision went completely black.

"Too bad your fiancé wasn't here to save you."
