LAUREN'S P.O.V

I hate Sydney.

It's so packed all the time, people are just everywhere.

I walked down to the train station in a hurry to get to work on time.

Granted, my job wasn't really important, I was simply just a waitress at a little cafe in central Sydney.

I waited at the station, studying all the people as they stood around, some wearing headphones, others in suits holding briefcases. Some people were on the phone or reading whilst others just stood silently, taking in their surroundings, like me.

The rusty train eventually pulled up and I huffed as a group of boys pushed past me with bikes to get through the small train doors first.

I stepped on and sat in an empty seat opposite a boy about my age.

He had a lip ring and his hair was sandy blonde and pushed up.

"Fucking hell man! ill be at the gym in 10, the train was delayed." he said through the phone.

"Okay mate, bye." he said before hanging up.

I avoided eye contact with him for as long as possible before I glanced over and he was staring directly at me. I quickly turned my head back the other way and the train pulled up at my stop.
Funnily enough, it was his stop too.
He got up at the same time as me and stepped off the train next to me, his hand lightly brushing my bum as he walked past me.

I huffed at his gesture and plugged in my headphones, beginning the short, 10 minute walk to my work.

I got there and the bell chimed as I stepped through the door.

I walked behind the counter and took off my coat and went to see Chloe, my only friend in Sydney.

"Morning!" she said as I walked over to her.

"Hey." I replied, smiling.

The cafe was empty so we sat and had a chat for a while.

"How was your morning?" I asked and she groaned.

"It started raining as soon as I left the house." she said and I laughed.

"But it's fine, Ashton has offered to take me out later." her face lit up just at the name.

Ashton was this guy she had been seeing for a while, I hadn't met him yet but he seemed to like her.

They always sent eachother messages with loads of heart emojis and she genuinely seemed happy to be with him which was all that mattered.

"That's cute." I smiled and she nodded.
I hadn't really ever had a proper relationship and I didn't really intend on it either, I'm only 17, I have other things to worry about like college and my work for the future but Chloe would rather have a boyfriend.

"Yeah, he's at the gym at the moment, him and his friends are going to come in here afterwards." she replied, twiddling her hair between her finger and thumb.

Brilliant.

A few people came in and out of the cafe for the next two hours, ordering coffees and slices of cakes and eventually 'Ashton' and his friends showed up.

Chloe went over to the boy that must be Ashton and hugged him tight.

They all sat around a table, there was 5 of them and were being very loud.
"Go and take orders." My boss, James said sternly.

I got my notepad and pen and walked over to the table where Chloe was sat on Ashton's lap.

"Guys this is Lauren." Chloe smiled, gesturing to me.
