~Again~

Let's go again,

Digging deep for truth,

Piecing it together,

Cobbling it together,

Copying and pasting and typing

And searching

For how we got here

How we survive these days

How did we survive those days gone by,

I think I know but I don't want to-

But no matter,

Shove it all to the side with the rest of the problems,

Let's go again,

Let's present the facts here and now,

You can't forget them if you keep repeating them like some chant,

Fine, then,

We'll go again:

I'm a girl-

Here we are again and I'm already wrong-

What?

Did you forget those panic-induced moments where you questioned even that?

Did you forget these last few months when you tried on new labels and new labels...

Well, then,

I'm not a boy

That I know

Yet, still, that's another mess we'll ignore for now,

I'm a person,

I'm human,

That's all we'll say for now,

Leaving those old and new labels aside, for now,

Let's go again:

I'm-

13

14

12

11

10

15

16

17

19

I'm-

Too young, trapped in the past,

Too old, in a distant, unreachable future

Too much of both, here and now,

Until even my age, even simple math

Seems to be distorted

I'm-

Wait.

Just wait.

Are you sure you're really here?

You don't feel real, you feel distant-

What is that face in the mirror?

It can't be me, but it is

Here we go again:

I'm from-

Wait.

That, I do know.
