Chapter Forty-five

NUMB. THAT'S WHAT I've been feeling for the past twenty-four hours while I kept myself occupied with the activities I've set for the boys.

As I stared at the two young boys jump around an the snow, trying to get a clear shot of each other, a smile threatened to stretch across my face. But the hot glare at the back of my head prevented me from doing so.

Though I had wanted to tell Jack and Zach off for being so weak at snowball fights, I feel as though there's an invisible force pulling me back. And I know exactly who it is.

"Hey you're phone's ringing, don't you want to pick it up?" Angel sat down next to me on the stairs of the cabin's back porch.

We were all in the snowy backyard right now, watching the boys have fun amongst themselves.

My brows shot up when I finally became aware of myself. I took my phone from my hoodie pocket and looked at it.

"Oh." I managed to say as I looked at the caller ID- Jordan. It really is ringing.

I slid the answer button. "Hello?"

There was some shuffling in the other end. "I'm in Canada."

I gasped, almost dropping the phone in the process. Angel looked at me weirdly before gave her a reassuring smile. I stood up and left to go back inside the cabin where I could talk to Jordan in private.

"You said you'd be here tomorrow." I whispered as I walked inside the kitchen. I leaned on the kitchen island and sighed.

I talked to Jordan last night about what happened- the whole Daniel finally revealing what's ruining to the band to me. Luckily, he said he was about to fly to Canada anyway for another college entrance exam. So he said he'd meet me here and then have the date that he promised me last Christmas.

"I know but I got excited." He chuckled.

I saw Marie and Ibiza walk in the kitchen and they smiled at me. They went over to the microwave, no doubt to make hot coco.

"Where are you right now?" I asked, biting my lip.

"In a taxi, on my way to the cabin."

"Hey Lotte, who you talking to?" Marie wiggled her eyebrows at me.

I playfully rolled my eyes at her, "Just a friend."

She and Ibiza laughed. "Oh right, a friend." Marie snickered.

"Ah, nice to hear I'm just a friend to you." Jordan laughed on the other end.

"Oh shut up." I rolled my eyes at Jordan.

"I'll wait for you outside the cabin, is that okay?" I asked him as I walked inside the lounge room, leaving Marie and Ibiza in the kitchen.

"Oh no." Jordan replied. "I'll just knock. That's more convenient than letting you wait out in the cold."

I smiled, Jordan's a really good friend.

"Okay, but I'm warning you, the boys at out back playing in the snow." I warned, lying down on the couch.

"Eh." He laughed. "I have a disguise on anyway, I'll just pretend I'm your foreign boyfriend from Canada who wants to visit, aye?"

I laughed, "Whatever."

"I gotta go Lotte, see ya." He bid goodbye.

"Alright, bye." I ended the call and looked around the empty lounge room.
