Not bothering to look at you anymore, gripping her hands, hugging her knees, putting her head on the top of her knees trying to think of what to say.
"I am sorry... I shouldn't ask.."
You tried to apologize.
"Renji would drag me into the sports you see... or at least to watch them play a game of basketball or go and swim with them. Weird right?"
"Fucking perverts!"
You said it out loud.
"Sorry! I didn't mean too--"
She interrupted you.
"Same reaction!"
Rukia said laughing at you, and then both of you laughing at each other.
"How long will this elevator take?"
You mumbled, being nervous and bit scared.
"Grimmjow...."
Your thoughts attacked, wishing you could see the blue eyed male.
Seeing your worried expression, Rukia decided to let go of her fear and open up to you, since that was the only thing that came to her mind.
"I was top student in my school."
"Mm? That was random...."
You raised your head, letting her continue.
"Well yeah....Your and my school weren't that much far away, and I think you and me are like year or two difference in age..."
"Mhm.. year."
"Anyways... A lot of other students hated my guts because I was top in every class you could name. I am adopted child after all, and I had to work hard to satisfy Kuchiki family."
"Woah... Rukia that...."
She nodded off.
"They told me that I should walk with pride, that I should be proud to be Kuchiki, that I should get married into one of the rich families and not ruin the name you know? It's like damn royal family stuff..."
"EH?!"
You yelled out loud.
"Didn't expect that huh?"
Rukia asked you, giggling a bit.
"Nope."
"Well mostly because I disobeyed them and declined to marry one of the guys they offered me, I am now working here. Being top student didn't help me to get decent job, not here at least..."
"Why didn't you just go in the other country?"
"I wonder that myself sometimes.... but option is still there.."
Elevator shake again, making you hug your head in your knees.
"Oh right was saying about Kurosaki....my brother hates him.... but I would always choose that asshole over any other rich man"
"How come?"
" Kurosaki and myself know each other for quite a bit, from start of high school actually. I just transferred in this new high school, only guy I've knew was Renji, we both went in the same school before we transferred, he is my best friend, since Kuchiki family was good with his family, he was mostly my guardian to say so."
".....what the fuck are you Rukia?"
"As I said.... Kuchiki is rich family, but not many people know about me. They do know about my brother.''
"Mm.. why though?.."
"Because I was adopted by them when I already got into 8th grade."
"Huh?"
"What about your parents?"
You asked.
"....."
A silence.
"I don't know."
She mumbled.
"Didn't you try to search them up?"
Rukia moved a bit in her place, still trying to sit somehow, disgusted of the elevator, sighing not knowing should she even continue further. It was painful experience to talk about.
"Most of the kids like me would search them up... but what If I don't like what I ll see? What if they... just gave me away? Or just didn't want me?"
"Rukia that's not possible to even..."
"We are both grown ups Last name. We both know that accident pregnancies happen, that most of the people don't even want kids, and then they throw them away. Can't say that I was sad or so. I had a place to sleep, to eat, to study, and then piqued Kuchiki's interest. Even though they adopted me because of my knowledge and good grades thinking that I will do what they told me so, I just decided not to. I took their name, lived with them, but after school we had disagreement. My brother still talks with me though, we see each other, and because of his good will I am kept as member of Kuchiki family, but I don't want anything to do with them, nor to owe them. So I've found job here until i think about what I actually want..."
"I am sorry...."
You mumbled, not sure what to tell her.
"Pft no need...I am fine see? And I am happy for the first time you know..."
"Because Kurosaki?"
"Who knows."
"So who knows about..."
"Me being Kuchiki? Eh mostly Kurosaki, Renji, and now you."
"Oh."
"What about your family?"
"Eh... nothing much, just us being normal.''
"Hmmmm I see.''
"Yeah..."
There was a long silence. She didn't tell you story about her and Kurosaki, her mind going towards his smile, and his annoyed face when he met her, his hands in his pockets just kicking some dude in the hall, and Renji being amused by this.
"I like this guy."
Renji said.
"I don't."
She mumbled.
"Cmon Rukia you need friends!"
He yelled at her, trying to fix his long ponytail he had.
"No way in hell I am getting friends with this fucker."
Rukia pointed at orange haired male that turned around seeing her expression.
"Who the fuck is a fucker you loli girl?!"
"WHAT DID YOU CALLED ME ORANGE FRUIT BASTARD?!"
"Now now calm down.... Kurosaki... this is Rukia... my good friend I told you about."
"She is short as fuck man."
"FUCK OFF!"
She punched him in his face, walking ahead of the both.
"WHY YOU LITTLE COME BACK!"
Kurosaki start chasing her, making others look at him as he did so.
"I think both of you will be just fine...."
Renji muttered.
"NO WE WONT!"
Both of them yelled at him, going downstairs.
She had a smile on her face remembering how it started. Getting extra attention just because of orange haired male, having weird tastes and arguments, and her even having problem with girls a bit.
Rukia was really kinda of girl that was with both legs on the ground. Not much of daydreaming, trying to study as much as she could, with hope of better future, with hope of leaving the orphanage, not even knowing that she would get adopted by the royal people, one of the strong names on earth, people that owned large companies, that had tons of money and life with no worries.
Why did she accept though? It wasn't worth the stress but at least she managed to have better school, to have at least some stuff she actually needed and kind bro. Strange that he stayed at her side...
She sighed looking at you, and then her mind went at the specific day. It was really hot for that year, all three of them were already in high school, and met specific girl named Inoe. She was rather kind, had a big nice smile and really beautiful hair.

She would usually get bullied by two girls. Seemed like weak one. Always being kind to the point of people using her. Rukia didn't like that a single bit.
One day, in order to make Inoe fight them off, she got into argument with other girls, ending up at the pool with them. Inoe's face was red from slaps she got from other girls. Her at the point of crying for Rukia which tried to help the poor girl out. Renji was in the other class not knowing where she left. He was sure that Rukia had a class with Kurosaki. It was English class right?
Renji sighed deciding to go out, telling teacher that he had to go into the bathroom, lying about it just so he could make sure that everything is okay, something in him made him doubt about Rukia being at the class.
