5 years later
I put the last of my things in a box. I carry the box downstairs. My mom and Luke come and give me a hug. "Oh my clary. I can't believe you are moving out" my mom says. "Mom, I'm 21 it was bound to happen some time. It's not like I'm moving out of state. I'm still in New York. Y'all can come over any time. Besides, I have saved a whole lot of money for this house by working." " I know you have. We are just going to miss you" Luke says. They both hug me again. I take the box out to my white 2016 Ford Explorer.
I get in the drivers seat of my car. Mom looks in my window and says "are you sure you don't want us to help you unpack and move in?" "Yes mom. I promise I am fine." She nods and I roll up the windows. I pull out of the driveway and head over to my new house. I think about my busy life and everything else that comes to mind.

I pull up to the house in an hour and a half. I get out the car and open the front door. I am going to have to get used to living in a big house and not a tiny apparent. I go to the car and bring in every box from the back of my car. I go up to the master bedroom and put all the clothing and bedroom boxes in here. I start unpacking them. I finish my room in 3 hours. My new bedroom is set up. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself. I sit on my bed and text my new address to Reagan. I also send it to jace and the other lightwoods.
I go down to unpack all the other boxes. I finish at 4:30. I realize I need to go get some food since I am all out. I get a text from izzy saying 'oh my gosh. You got a house?! So you finally moved out. Do you need any help unpacking or anything?' I text her back saying 'no I just finished unpacking. I'm about to head out to the grocery store. I went furniture shopping a few days ago. So it looks like a normal house. Y'all are welcome to come over if you want for dinner. I will make something, not sure what yet.' I immediately get a response saying 'I would love to! I will see if everyone else wants to come too. I bet the house is so pretty!' 'I think y'all will like it. It is big. I know mayrse left yesterday for idris. Just see what the others want to do. I will go to the grocery store now.' I head out the front door and lock it. I have a huge front yard and back yard. I had to buy more land for the back yard since there was barely any backyard when I bought it. I could use some company around this new large house.
I get in the car and go to publix down the street. I get tons of food and snacks and drinks.
I call izzy because I need some suggestions to know what to make for dinner. "Hey clary" she squeals when she answers the phone. "Hey izzy. Do you have any preferences for dinner?" "Not really. I will eat anything at this point. I haven't eaten much all day. Alec, jace, and Simon said they would come with me to see your new house. I'm so excited to see it." "Well whoever is near by I need to talk to them" I tell her and she says "okay here is jace." "Hey clary" he says. "Hey jace. I'm at the store getting stuff for dinner. Is there anything in particular you want me to make?" "Hmm... I don't care, I will eat anything." That gives me an idea. "Oh I just got an idea. Thanks. I will see you later. Come to my house at 6:30." "Okay. I think Alec will be driving." "Okay see you soon." I hang up and I go through to grab all the ingredients for Mexican chicken casserole.
I check out and get back home at 5:15. I have to hurry and start making everything. I unload all the groceries and put them away. I start making the casserole. I put it in the oven at 6:10. I grab a water out of the fridge and go to the bathroom to make sure I look okay before everyone gets here. I decide I do and go watch tv while I wait for the casserole and for everyone else to arrive.
I look out my window and see a car pull down the driveway. I open the door and wait for everyone to get out of the car. Izzy get out and runs to hug me. "Oh my gosh clary. I can't believe you live all the way over here. Your house is so big. I bet the inside is so pretty." Izzy moves past me and walks inside. Jace comes up to me and hugs me and says "hey beautiful. I love the house." I smile and say thanks and he walks in after izzy. Alec and Simon come up next and Alec says "wow! I didn't know you would even move this far. Or even in a house." "Yeah well. I figured it was time to get on my own." "Well it looks nice. Can't wait to see the inside" Simon says and they both walk in. I follow them. "I will show y'all around if you want." They all nod.
I show them around the house. When I finish izzy says "this is amazing! I still can't believe you are now on your own. I also can't believe you added a gym in the basement. You decorated this all by yourself?" "Well my mom and Tessa helped with some of it. I did most of it though. I moved in this morning."
We all go to the kitchen. I pull the Mexican chicken casserole out of the oven. "What is that? It smells good. I don't think I have ever seen it before" Simon asks. "Mexican chicken casserole. I found the recipe online. Mom taught me how to cook about a year ago but I've never put my cooking skills to use. I just hope it tastes okay." Jace walks over and tries to take a bite of it. I smack his hand and say "not now. Good gosh man. If you were hungry why didn't you say something." I pull out some plates out of the cabinet and put some food on each of the plates.
They each take it to the table and we start eating. I bring the waters or whatever they say they want to drink first though. "This is good" Alec says. "Well good. I wasn't sure how it would taste" I respond. I finish my food and take all the plates and dump them in the trash if there is anything left. They all sit at the table and talk while I am washing the dishes. I walk back in and we all go sit in the living room and talk. We sit and talk about just about everything for what feels like forever.
They stay until 9:30. Jace gives me a kiss before saying "your still going to come to the institute right?" "Of course I will. And y'all are all always welcome to come over here whenever, as long as I am home that is or else y'all won't be able to come in." "Okay good. For a second there I was worried you were never going to come back to us." He smiles and walks to the car. They pull out of the driveway and leave.
I walk back inside and start cleaning the kitchen. I go up to my room. I pull out a box in my closet I have not unloaded yet. It is not much. I pull out a picture and a picture frame. I put the picture in it. I hang the picture on the wall and stand back and look at it. It is a picture of me and jace. There are pictures all over the house. The ones in my room are of the ones I love the most like me and my mom, me and Luke, and me and Simon.
I change into some sweat pants and a soft t-shirt. I go down to the living room and walk out on my patio. I sit down on the lawn chair and start sketching in my sketchbook. I sit out here for a while till I start getting bit up by mosquitoes then I walk back inside. I collapse on the couch. This has been a long and busy day for me. I woke up early and moved out of mom and Luke's and moved into my very own house. I unpacked for what felt like forever. Then I cooked dinner for 5. Now here I am. This house sure is quiet and a little lonely.
I need a dog. Maybe that will be my next purchase for this house.
I turn on the tv and watch it until I get too tired. I get really tired at 10:45. I turn the tv off and head up to my room. I turn off my light and go to sleep.
