The anthem plays, and you sit up to see the Capitol's symbol shining over your head. You close your eyes. You're very grateful to be able to see and hear the message. You hug your legs close as the faces of the dead appear.

Harry slammed his fist into the tabletop, silencing the whispers echoing through the Gamemaker's circle.
He had lost Alistair. This was no little thing either. The bet between Gamemakers was no childish gambling match. It was a public affair, and he had been humiliated.
Mer swore through the headset, the usual mirth from her voice gone.
Claire was smug. "I guess we won't have the head Gamemaker winning the bet this year," she said.
"We'll see..." Harry said.
"What do you mean?" Rohe asked. "There's no way you can win now!"
"Unless I bring you all down with me..." Harry said, stroking his beard. "We'll see how long your tributes last."
