I get to pops with Betty and jug
"Two chocolates, one vanilla, one cookies and creams and a root beer float for Archie" pop says "welcome home son" he adds
"Thanks pop" Archie says
"Since when do you drink root beer floats?" Betty asks Archie
"I guess I'm just not in the mood for a strawberry milkshake" Archie says
"New drink, new hair, new haunted vacant look in your eyes-" Jughead starts
"Guys Archie just lived through the revenant let him order what he wants" v says
"So what'd I miss while I was gone?" Jughead asks
"We'll thanks to the town quarantine orchestrated my our father pops was shut down and just re opened" v says "and he's also been attacking shipments to the speakeasy but thankfully I've hired the serpents as my full time protection and that service extends to you Archie" she adds
"And I'm coming back to work here when I'm not doing protection detail with the serpents" I say
"You know you don't have to work protection working here is enough" Jughead says
"Jug I own half of this place, I left v to run it by herself for a month. Imma do as much work as I can to pay my debt off" I say to her
"You don't have to worry about Hiram's goons coming after you or your dad. You don't be able to see em but I have guys watching you 24/7 and I have possible lead that could diffuse this threat permanently" Jughead says
"What jug?" Betty asks
"You can't tell anyone, fangs is deep undercover in the gargoyle gang" jug says
"He hasn't met the king yet but he's still working on it" I say
"And when we get access to him we're gonna take him down my bet is that it's hiram underneath the mask" jug says
"I think our dad is hiring someone to put the mask on and he's feeding him information" I say
"Sorry Veronica" Jughead says
"Don't be I wouldn't put it past him" v says
"We'll there goes studying for the SATs" Betty says
"What SATs? Archie asks
"Yeah they're this Saturday" Betty says and he sits back
"Don't worry arch I'll help you study and get you caught up okay? We all will" Betty says
Pop walks back "I'm sorry Betty but your debit card was declined" pop says and gives it back to her
"I got it just put it on my tab pops I'll pay it with my check" I say and he nods and walks away
The next day we sat in Archie's bed room helping him study for the SATs
Jughead was holding up a card and arch had to tell him the meaning of it.
"Iconoclast. Ok iconoclast....that is...." Archie's mumbles
"A person who attacks another's cherished beliefs" I say
"Ding ding ding" Jughead says and points to his nose then me.
"I'm in high school how am I supposed to know that" Archie asks
"Why don't we start thinking about the SATs in terms of strategy, when in doubt why don't you just fill in all the bubbles marked d?" Jughead asks
"Betty how did I do on the practice test?" Archie asks "I tanked it did I?"
"Um" she says but Archie grabs it
"I got a 600 on this part" Archie says
"That's your combined score arch" Betty says
"It's in the bottom 10th percentile" I say Jughead phone buzzes
"All right we gotta go guys it's fangs" Jughead says and I get up
"Do you want me to come with you?" Archie asks
"No I'd stay and get a couple extra hours cramming in" jug says
"If anyones gonna get you up to speed it's gonna be Betty" I say and him and I go to meet fangs in the bunker
"Jughead, Avery I'm in" fangs says
"Tell us everything what happened?" Jughead asks
"The gargoyle king. The other guys told me that he's impressed by my fizzle rocks sales so he wants to invite me into his inner circle they're having a ceremony tomorrow night he'll be there" fangs says
Jug claps "fangs this is huge where's it happening" he asks
"A clearing in fox forest not too far from here what do you want me to do" fangs asks
"I want you to go don't worry your gonna have back up" Jughead says and I jug fangs
That night we get a welcome home part planned at the speak easy
"What is what is all this?" Archie asks
"We'll it was going to be a study party but that was before you came back home to us so now it's a study/ welcome home party Archie complete with s musical amuse Bouche provided by moi so take a seat lover and let me entertain you" v says
We all sit down I sit with sweet pea in the back
She sings in Spanish to him.
I look and see Reggie looks uncomfortable I get up and go lean down next to him "you ok" I ask him and he looks at me and nods his head then Archie jumps up and runs out.
"Come with me" I say to Reggie and he sighs and rolls his eyes I take him to the back of pops.
"What's going on Reg I can tell something is bothering you?" I ask him
"I kissed Ronnie but she kissed me back, now Archie is back and she wants to pretend it never happened" Reggie says
"Wow Reg." I scoff "listen Archie and v are together again meaning your gonna have to sit back and let v choose and if it's not you then you need to back off, Archie is your best friend. Don't lose that cuz you and v got close while he was running for his life. You would look like a shitty friend Reg. And I know your not" I say and say his shoulder before walking away
The next night we go as fangs back up.
Me jug and FP take out the guards quietly
"Now" jug screams and we all run in
"Sweet pea get fangs" I hear jug yells
I grab fangs with sweet pea and jug takes the "kings" mask off
He looks up at us "tall boy?" FP says
And we all look at each other in shock.
We were now in the bunker beating him for answers
"We all thought you were dead tall boy" FP says after hitting him
"I can't believe you almost branded fangs" I growl stepping to him but fangs grabs my arm and pulls me back
"Where you been hiding?" FP asks taking his jacket off
"A small towns called Athens. gotta say, it's good to be back" tall boy says spitting blood
"Don't get to comfortable" I say and spit at him
"Alice cooper, she was looking extra sweet the night me and my boys broke into her house and scared the crap out of her and her bitch daughter that was fun-" tall boy says and I pull myself from fangs and hit him in the face.
Then Jughead takes a shot at him knocking him down so he starts laughing
"All right let's cut to the chase. We know you're working for hiram you've been dressing up in that little costume, like his mascot so now your going to help us take him down" Jughead says
"You know what else was fun? Carving that symbol into Joaquin's forehead after I killed him" tall boy says
"You're dead!" Sweets yells and fangs yells "you son of a bitch" FP and jug hold them back
"What he killed Joaquin!" Fangs yells
I slip through and hit him again and again and again until FP pulls me off
"I'm gonna kill you!" I scream
"What do you think tall boy huh? Should I let them tear you limb from limb or are you gonna help us get to Hiram? I know you have access to him" jug says I pull myself off FP and sweets puts his arm over me still pissed
"The man in the black would never agree to meet with me not unless I have something that he really wants" tall boy says and we all look at each other
I sit with sweet pea and fangs and FP in the bunker waiting for Jughead
"Nice right hook babe. You've gotten a lot better" sweets says to me
And I smile "I had a good teacher"
"Save the flirting for the bed room" tall boy groans
"You know if I didn't hate my father more than anyone else in the world I would have killed you by now" I growl
"You northsider wouldn't have the guts to kill me" he says and I take my blade out and open it and shove it against his throat cutting him a bit
"Avery back down" FP says to me
"Do you really want to gamble tall boy?" I ask him
"Avery" FP says and I push him and back away
Once we get arch on board which didn't take anything tall boy called my dad.
"I have the red paladin him and his friends tried to ambush us in the woods" he says in the phone
Sweets held the phone up to him awhile fangs held a gun to his head and I have a knife to his throat
"If you want him-" tall boy says
"Usual meeting place nine o'clock" tall boy then says
Everyone goes beside me sweet pea and fangs where we are in charge of watching tall boy
"I hope this works" I say and tall boy starts laughing
"What do you find so funny tall boy?" Fangs asks him and tall boy looks at me
"You don't hope it's works. No matter what you do Avery no matter what you where or what tattoos you get your a lodge. And he's your dad, I don't think you would want your friends to kill him or get him arrested." Tall boy says
"That's where your wrong tall boy, as far as I'm concerned my dad died the day he was arrested and all the delusional things he put in my head so I wouldn't find out that he's a horrible man came clear. If I had the chance I'd be the one who pulls the trigger" I say
"We both know that's a lie, your sister would never forgive you and you wouldn't forgive yourself" he says
"Well looks like that's just something I and her would have to live with now isn't it? At least everyone would be alive" I say
The next day is the SATs
"You have 30 minutes to complete the first portion of the SAT math section when you are finished do not skip ahead to other sections. I will issue a five minute warning for your convenience prior to the time limit. Do you all understand?" Our teacher asks we nod our heads
"Good" she says she looks at the clock "you may begin" she says and I get straight to work putting my full name and then going to question 1.
After a few minutes Archie runs out v try's to go after him
But if she left she would get a 0
After the SATs I get called down to the office and I find out my dad has been shot I'm sitting there when Archie is running in he stops and looks at me
"You are ok? I-is sweet pea coming?" He asks me
"No he's busy but I'm ok she's over there" I say and point to where v is and he nods and goes to see her. I go inside the room and see him laying there.
I look at my mom then my dad "he always comes back don't he" I mumble to my mom
"Mija-" she tries and my phone rings I look down and see it's Jughead calling.
I press decline "mom I'm sorry but I can't be here right now" I say and I walk away
I go meet up with Jughead
"Hey Avery why didn't you answer my call?" He asks me
"Because Jughead I was at the hospital" I say not showing any emotion
"Is everything ok?" Sweets asks me
"My dad got shot" I say and then I walk away from the three boys
I grab a drink and Jughead jumps on a car
"Serpents! We have a lot to celebrate?" Jughead says
"We finally unmasked our for the gargoyle king" he says and everyone cheers
"Hiram lodge, the man in the black is down for the count!" Jug says and everyone cheers again
"And tonight we're welcoming back one of our own fangs fogarty" he finishes and everyone starts cheering more
"Serpents, serpents, serpents" jug starts chanting and everyone besides me chants with.
I pull my phone out and see a text from axel
Axe: hey how are you how was the SATs
Me: my dad hiram just got shot idk if I'm sad or happy
Axe: oh shit for real? I'm on my way sounds like you need a friend
I small smile appears on my lips
Sirens start coming and we all turn around the car stops and we all wait.
He walks up and looks up and it's FP
"Dad?" Jug says
"Sheriff jones now, boy" FP says "listen up you're looking at the new law in riverdale" FP says and everyone including me starts to cheer.
