2 weeks later (22 days from Hayes' release date)

"Jack, when will the ADT guy get here?" I walked out of our bathroom to find him laying on his side of the bed, staring at his phone.

"Uhh, 45 minutes maybe."

Jack and I are having a security system installed since Hayes gets out in about three weeks. I also got the restraining orders filed, along with letting our local police department know what was going on.

"So, I have yet to look at plane tickets for us." I leaned against the door frame of the bathroom's entrance.

"Then let's just drive." He shrugged "we can leave and return on our own time and we can make it like old times." He smiled.

I couldn't help but smile, thinking back to our trips to New York and Chicago, but my smile soon faded once I remembered why we had to leave in the first place.

"Jack, I think we should open the rest of the letters."  I rolled back and forth from the balls of my feet to my heels.

"Why?" He asked as he looked up at me.

"What if there's information or something we need to know in those letters?" I shrugged.

"I think we should leave them alone and ignore the new ones like we have been. The system has been working, and the last time you opened a latter, you had a panic attack." He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Ok, but if we hadn't opened up the letter we wouldn't have known that he was getting released early." I walked over to the bed and sat on the edge of his side.

"I mean.. is this something you really want to do?" He asked.

"Yes, I feel like I need to know."

He stayed silent for a second and then decided to respond "Gabby, I feel like this isn't a good idea."

"Well, those are my letters so.. I'd like to open them." I responded and he slightly rolled his eyes.

"Ok," he sighed while getting up and tossing his phone on the bed so it landed right next to me as I laid down on my back and closed my eyes

As he headed down the stairs, I heard a phone buzz so on instinct I picked it up to check who texted me, but when I saw the home screen, I noticed that it was Jack's phone.

I was about to set it back down when I saw a text message from Sadie, and I don't check his phone or messages but I had to see this.

The message read "So, did you tell her or will I have to?"

Naturally, my eyebrows furrowed and I decided to read it again just in case I was reading it wrong.

"So, did you tell her or will I have to?" I whispered to myself.

I didn't know what that meant but I heard the office door close downstairs so I turned his phone off and set it where it was before, still playing her message  back in my head.

"Here," he set a light grey Nike shoe box down, next to my head "those are all the letters we've gotten in the past month or so."

I silently nodded my head in response as I sat up "Thank you." I mumbled.

"Mhm." He nodded his head while looking down at me "is something wrong?" He asked and I shook my head.

"You're a shitty liar." He chuckled.

"I'm being serious." I forced a smile "it's been a long day."

"It's 2:30." He had a bright smile on his face so I couldn't help but smile too.
