Overnight challenge- When a person stays roughly 24 hours in a closed establishment, usually recording the event, trying not to be caught doing so by staff, guards, or cameras.
"Oh come here Maya!" Dad opens his arms. I put my bag down in the corridor and hug him tightly. I immediately start crying, not balling just soft crying.
"Honey it's okay" he rubs my back. "Jen! Maya's home!" Dad shouts. "Your mum told me what happened. I'll beat him with a spatula if you want" dad says.
I pull back wiping my face. "Maybe a ladle" I chuckle sadly. "Maya!" Mum exclaims. I turn and give her a hug. "Oh honey he's not shit" she rubs my back. I chuckle then move back.
"Come on, I made you a Sunday dinner" dad says. "It's Wednesday" I chuckle following him.
"Yeah but Sunday dinners are the best. Are you objecting?" He asks sitting down. "Nope. I love having Sunday dinner on a Wednesday" I chuckle.
"And Maya I set some ground rules. No talking about that boy, the devil who hurt my daughter. He can't be named" mum shakes her head.
"And no magic outside of Hogwarts you hear me?" Dad mocks mum. I laugh looking between them. "Alex, I'm being serious. Maya you're gonna focus on work and being a beautiful, strong woman. And Alex don't mock me or you can sleep on the sofa" mum points her fork at dad.
"Sorry honey" dad chuckles pressing a kiss to mums temple. "And no talking about that Shane" dad shakes his head trying not to laugh.
"Yeah no more" I chuckle. I already felt better.
- I sat out on the porch, cup of tea in my hands and a blanket around me.
"Hey honey" mum sits beside me with a cup. "Hi" I smile at her.
"How're you?" She asks. "I thought we couldn't mention him" I chuckle.
"We're outside the house" she grins.
"Well when we broke up I thought we could be friends, you know I just wanted him in my life. I didn't realise how hard it would be to see him when i love him and I can't say it or act upon my feelings" I sigh.
"Did he say he didn't... you know?"
"Yeah. He said he knows somewhere in his heart he does but not right now" I look down at my mug. "He's acting normal mum. Like when people break up especially after six months of being together all the time, I thought he would've been impacted maybe a little bit he's fine. He's doing fine without me" I shrugs sadly.
"There's someone out there for you honey. You know I'm a strong believer that there's soulmates, that we all have someone" she takes my hand gently. "I want it to be him" I admit.
"You night not feel this way in a few months. This could all be different" she coos. "It hurts mum. I never thought I'd be the girl to cry over a boy, it's so dumb and stupid and I feel like an idiot. I wasted six months, 182 days, around 24 weeks gone. He never loved me mum" I sniffle leaning on her shoulder.
"You've always been so good at maths" she chuckles then puts a hand in my hair soothingly. "And it's okay to cry sweetheart. When I was fifteen, I thought I loved this boy so much. He loved me but it was fake. He said it to make me happy. I cried and cried Maya then your father came along. I realised the love I felt was nothing compared to what I had with your dad" she tells me.
"But mum I'm twenty two, I'm an adult" I sniffle.
"Love doesn't come at a certain age Maya. It comes whenever it's best suited. You'll know" she rubs my back. "Thanks mum"
"It's okay honey" she kisses the top of my head. "I'm staying here for a while. Is that okay?"
"Don't be silly! You can stay all you want Maya"
