"the new album owns me" riley said to me as we ate our popcorn. "i've learnt dying in la on piano" she added.
"already!? wow" brendon commented.
"maybe you should learn a love song for your future girlfriend" i suggested.
"i could sing her to sleep! but im not good at singing" she said sadly.
"she could sing" i suggested.
"a lesbian band!" brendon grinned.

"that would be so epic" riley said as sarah walked in with coffee for her and brendon. "you learnt dying in la on piano?" sarah asked. "yeah. i learn by ear. cant fucking read sheet music" riley said. "can i use it?" she pointed to the piano near the Sinatra painting.
"sure!" brendon said.

she sat down and played some random keys then some of truce by twenty one pilots.
"come over here you bisexual" she turned around and looked at me.
"ugh" i put the bowl down and sidled over to her.
"we need to practice" she said.
"practice what?" i asked.
"when me and my girlfriend duet. you sing, i play" she said.
i wasn't good at singing but i really did not give a shit.
"we're duetting!" we yelled to my parents. i sat on the top of the piano while riley played.

"The moment you arrived, they built you up
The sun was in your eyes, you couldn't believe it
Riches all around, you're walking
Stars are on the ground, you start to believe it

[Pre-Chorus]
Every face along the boulevard
Is a dreamer just like you
You looked at death in a tarot card
And you saw what you had to do

[Chorus]
But nobody knows you now, when you're dying in LA
And nobody owes you now, when you're dying in LA
When you're dying in LA, when you're dying in LA
The power, the power, the power
Oh, the power, the power, the power
Of LA

[Verse 2]
Nights at the chateau, trapped in your sunset bungalow
You couldn't escape it, yeah
Drink of paradise, they told you "Put your blood on ice"
You're not gonna make it
[Pre-Chorus]
Every face along the boulevard
Is a dreamer just like you
You looked at death in a tarot card
And you saw what you had to do

[Chorus]
But nobody knows you now, when you're dying in LA
And nobody owes you now, when you're dying in LA
When you're dying in LA, when you're dying in LA
The power, the power, the power
Oh, the power, the power, the power
Of LA"

i heard sniffling. riley stopped playing and looked round with me. my parents were crying!
"did someone die?" i asked. sarah wiped her eyes.
"you have such a beautiful voice" she commented.
"liar" i sighed.
"you sing like an angel" brendon smiled fondly.
"you do" riley agreed.

"i mean...im not really into it" i admitted.
