Chapter 101 - Five

POV Sienna

Time: 10:50 AM (Thursday)

Doctora Candice Regalado. Bata pa lang ako ay kilala ko na ang mommy ni Jordan. Isang kilalang scientist sa Aquinas Island at isang mapagmahal na ina, pero di ko akalain na siya mismo ang magsisimula ng zombie war.

"Sav, Doctor RE is none other than Candice Regalado, ang mother ni JC..." sabi ni Kio kay Sav.

Buong akala ko ay patay na siya dahil sa isang cruise ship accident, pero para kaming nakakita ng multo ni Kio nang makita namin ang mukha niya.

"I have a feeling that Harold knew about this and he intentionally hid it from me. The general must have asked him a favor dahil baka sabihin ko kay JC," sabi ni Kio.

Harold activated the speaker and we were able to hear their conversatin inside the Floor 23. It seems na nawalan na ng matinong pag-iisip ang mommy ni Jordan. She is experiencing delusions of grandeur. Akala niya, isa siyang savior ng mundo dahil sa ginawa niyang zombie apocalypse.

"Guys, I don't mean to interrupt this awkward reunion, but you have to see this," sabi ni Harold habang pinapakita ang kanyang monitor kina Herschel at Jordan.

Kio tried to access the same monitor and a big red timer appeared on his screen. It is like a countdown starting from five minutes.

"What the fuck is that, baby? Answer me!" sigaw ni Kio kay Harold sa headset.

"Baby, I don't know. It just activated a few minutes ago," kabadong sagot ni Harold.

"That's a time bomb capable of destroying this hell hole. It is directly connected to Maksim's heart. Harold unintentionally killed him and triggered this bomb. I am sorry, but it cannot be stopped. Even the mighty and world class engineer Hercules Rivera cannot stop it," sabi ni Candice Regalado.

Bomb? May bomba sa loob ng Floor23? Pero nandoon si Herschel at si Jordan. Nandoon pa din si Sir Hercules at General Regalado. Even Stella and Harold are still in there!

"Baby, get the fuck out of that room! You heard her!" nag-aalala na sabi ni Kio kay Harold.

"What kind of damage are we talking about, Candice?" tanong ni General Regalado sa kanya.

"A bomb capable of ravaging this floor and ten more floors above us. The whole headquarters will collapsed in no time."

"Dad, we don't have much time! Let's go!" sigaw ni Jordan.

Pinalabas ni Sir Hercules ang tatlong scientists na kasama niya and he motioned Herschel to follow him. Si General Regalado naman ay binuhat si Stella papasok sa elevator. Si Harold ay nagmamadali na kinuha ang dalawang laptop niya at sumunod kay General Regalado.

"What's happening, Kio? I can't hear them anymore!" sabi ni Sav nang mapansin namin na naiwan sa Floor 23 si Herschel at si Jordan.

We can no longer hear them dahil dineactivate na ni Harold ang speakers sa laptop niya. We can only see Doctor RE, Herschel and Jordan on the monitor screen.

"Based on their reaction, mukhang ayaw sumama ng mommy ni Jordan sa kanya. Herschel is trying to convince Jordan to leave," mahina kong sagot sa kanya dahil four minutes na lang ang natitira sa timer.

"Harold, can you hear me? Use the elevator now! Make sure that Sir Hercules and the general is safe. We are on our way there! I am calling Captain Phillip Hermoso as our back-up!" sabi ni Kio na tinanggal ang headset at biglang bumaba sa lower deck. He will probably navigate the yacht papunta sa Aquinas Island.

"Herschel, you have to leave now. You don't have much time!" bulong ko sa kanya sa headset.

"Two more minutes, Che! Take Jordan with you, please!" sigaw ni Sav sa headset.

Hindi ko na alam ang nangyayari pero mukhang umiiyak ang mother ni Jordan sa harapan niya. She is probably asking for forgiveness. When the timer hits exactly two minutes, hinila na ni Herschel ng sapilitan si Jordan palabas ng Floor 23.

From our screen, I can see na nakalabas ng maayos sa headquarters sila Harold at sila Sir Hercules. But my eyes widened when I saw Herschel and Jordan in Floor 22. They are not using the elevator, they are using the emergency stairs.

"Herschel, bakit hagdan ang ginagamit niyo ni Jordan?" kabadong tanong ko sa kanya via headset.

They need to climb twenty two more floors in less than two minutes. Kapag sumabog ang bomb, the building will surely collapse.

"The elevator is no longer working. Where's my dad?" tanong ni Herschel habang tumatakbo sila ni Jordan sa hagdan.

"They are safe. Nasa port na sila kasama si Harold, General Regalado at saka yung mga scientists ni Doctor RE. Malayo na sila sa headquarters building"

"Sienna, tell him, I love him. Tell my mom too that I love her too."

"No! You have to get out of that building! Ikaw mismo magsabi sa kanila niyan!" sigaw ko sa kanya dahil nasa Floor12 pa lang sila ni Jordan.

"And Sienna, don't you ever forget that I love you... Noon hanggang ngayon..."

"No, no, no! You have to tell me that in person! You promised to marry me after this apocalypse shit! Don't you dare die on me, Herschel Rivera!"

"I love you, Sienna..."

At yun na lang ang huli ko narinig kay Herschel as he turned off his headset. Both of them are running fast para umakyat sa hagdanan. Naramdaman ko din na unti unti ng umaandar ang yacht.

Sav is already sobbing beside me. Kausap niya marahil si Jordan sa headset. Nanlalabo na din ang paningin ko dahil sa luha habang tinitignan ang mga camera sa monitor screen. 

Napansin ko na isa isang naging black ang mga camera feeds. The bomb in Floor 23 probably exploded. The explosion destroyed the cameras and our connection to Aquinas Island.

Napaluhod na lang ako nang huli kong nakita si Herschel at Jordan sa Floor 3. 

It only means they are still inside the building when the bomb exploded...
