You took your phone out of your back pocket, feeling it vibrate to signal you of a text.

(Friend's Name): where are you?

(Your Name): getting breakfast. i'll be back soon

Before you could look up from your phone you bumped into someone, causing you to stumble backward. You felt the person's hand on your arm as you caught yourself.

"I'm sorry, are you okay?" the person, who you now figured was a man, asked.

"Yeah, I should have been looking where I was going," you answered, moving your hair out of your face and looking up at him. You recognized him instantly. You had run into Aaron Judge.

"I wasn't looking either," he said as he finally let go of your arm. You stepped back and you saw him quickly look you over.

"Are you Aaron Judge?" you asked, blushing in embarrassment.

"I am," he said, smiling. "Are you a Yankees fan?"

"Nope. Red Sox fan born and raised," you answered and he looked slightly disappointed. "But, if you weren't a Yankee, you'd probably be one of my favorite players."

He grinned. "Really?" You nodded. "So, does a beautiful girl like yourself have a name?"

You blushed. "I'm (Your Name)."

"Well, (Your Name), are you coming to the game today?" he questioned.

"Yes, I am," you told him.

He hummed. "I'll have to hit a home run for you, then."

"Nah, I doubt you'll be able to," you teased.

"Let's make a bet, then," he said, leaning towards you slightly. "If I hit a home run, you go to dinner with me."

"And if you don't?"

"You'll never have to talk to me again."

I do want to talk to you again, though.

You smiled. "Sounds like a plan."

Sure enough, in the seventh inning of that night's game, Aaron sent a ball over the Green Monster. Though he had just scored a run for the opposing team, you couldn't help but smile when he pointed at you while rounding the bases.

"The kid's having quite a game. On his birthday, too," someone around you said.

Hearing that made you happy, for some reason. On his birthday, when he could hang out with him teammates, he wanted to go out with you.

After the game, you met Aaron outside the visiting locker room.

"I told you I would do it," he said as soon as he saw you.

"Yeah, yeah, you did," you said, rolling your eyes and pretending to be annoyed. However, you couldn't help but smile.

"Still up for dinner?" he questioned, looking slightly nervous now that it came down to it.

"Of course. I like to keep my promises," you said.

He smiled. "Let's go, then."

-

"You know, I had fun tonight," you told Aaron as you walked back to your apartment.

"Even if you were going out with a Yankee?" he joked.

"Yeah, even then," you said with a smile.

"Well, I had fun, too," he said as you walked up to your door. He followed you, stopping in front of it and turning to you. You looked up at him. "I want to see you again."

You blushed. "I'm glad because I want to see you again, too."
