You exhaled, getting ready to swing at another pitch from the pitching machine

You exhaled, getting ready to swing at another pitch from the pitching machine. It was April 28th, a Friday, and you were very excited. The Red Sox had a home game at the beautiful Fenway Park against the Chicago Cubs, which was the real reason why you were looking forward to this game.

It was no secret that you were Kris Bryant's younger sister. You were both third basemen and had made names for yourself in the big leagues, even though he had been called up before you. He was the Rookie of The Year in 2015 and the NL MVP in 2016, and you were the first woman to play on a major league baseball team in over 60 years. How you had been called up by the Boston Red Sox, of all teams, was still beyond you.

Your first appearance in the majors was crazier than you had ever imagined. You were called up during the All-Star break during the 2016 season along with outfielder Andrew Benintendi, who you had ended up becoming good friends with.  In your first game, you pinch hit in the ninth inning, where you got your first major league hit. You could still remember standing on first base at Safeco Field, unable to hide your smile as you heard the fans cheering around you.

Since then, things had gone pretty well. You had gotten the chance to start many times, including three postseason games. Even though you were swept by the Indians, it was surreal. Now, after a good spring training and first almost month of the year, you had finally made it to the game you were waiting for.

It was around 5:30, and you had some off time before the game as the Cubs took BP. You walked up the steps to the dugout, setting your things in your cubby. You knew Kris usually hit fairly early, so you had planned to meet up.

"Allison!" a recognizable voice called. You turned to see Kris, Anthony, and Kyle Hendricks walking towards you.

"Kris!" you smiled brightly, walking up the steps to greet him. You gave him a big hug, holding on for a few moments before letting go. "I feel like we don't see each other at all anymore."

"I've been looking forward to this," Kris told you.

"Yeah, me too."

Anthony cleared his throat. "Oh, right," Kris said, causing Anthony to shake his head. "Allison, you've met Anthony, and this is Kyle."

You smiled, giving Anthony a hug. "Nice to see you again, Anthony."

"It's nice to see my favorite third basemen again," he said grinning. You laughed, turning to Kyle.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Kyle," you said, holding out your hand. "Watching you pitch in the playoffs last season was really fun."

"Nice to meet you, too," he said, shaking your hand, "and thank you." For a moment you could have sworn he was blushing, but you ignored it. He was cute, but there was no way he liked you.

"So, Kyle," Anthony said, leaning on the locker next to Kyle's. "You like Allison, huh?"

Kyle blushed visibly. "What makes you think that?"

"I think we could all tell."

"Doesn't matter. Dating a teammates sister seems like a low blow."

"Kris doesn't seem to care."

"What about me?" Kris questioned, walking over to the group.

"We're talking about how Kyle likes Allison," Anthony explained.

Kyle attempted to avoid Kris' gaze as he pretended to look for something in his jacket pocket.

"I'm fine with it." Kyle looked up at Kris, a little surprised. "She seems to like you."

"Are you sure?"

Kris grinned. "Yeah, I'm sure."

Though it was a close game, the Red Sox fell 3-2 to the Cubs. Losing always sucked, but you were fairly happy with your performance. You had gone 3 for 4 and got to throw your brother out at first base. It was just like any other play, but it made you incredibly happy.

Generally, it was a normal game. Each team made its fair share good plays and had its big moments. However, you seemed to have trouble focusing while on third. You mentally cursed whoever allowed Kyle to sit so close to you. You couldn't help but to look over between batters. Sometimes, you caught him looking, too.

"So, how does it feel to get thrown out by your little sister?" you teased. You and Kris had met up to talk after the game, even though you were going to see him for the next two days.

"Amazing," Kris joked. "You played well today, though."

"So did you."

"I should probably get going now. I think we're leaving soon."

"Okay," you said. "See you tomorrow, then."

"Yeah, see ya."

You smiled, waving slightly as you turned around, walking away. You were almost at the end of the hallway before Kris called your name, causing you to stop.

"I almost forgot," he said, jogging towards you. He reached into his pocket handing you a sheet of paper. You smiled slightly, unsure of what to say as you opened the paper.

'I saw you staring. And I know you caught me.

You looked up at Kris, who was smiling. You smiled back.

"Tell Kyle I said thank you," you said.

"You could tell him that yourself," Kris responded.

You rolled your eyes. "Goodnight, Kris."

"Goodnight, Allison."

Getting a guys number through my brother? I think that's a first.

Doesn't mean I didn't appreciate it. You seem really nice, Kyle.

You smiled at the message.
