You were playing video games on your phone at school. It was an adventure game that you saw online and wanted to try out for quite some time.

It took a lot of time to download considering that your phone's storage was full and had to delete some apps. But finally, you had it and you had figured out the controls pretty quickly so you decided to play with a friend.

Your fingers slide smoothly over the controls on your phone as you waited patiently for the next class.

Considering that the class you had earlier was vacant since the professor had called in sick, you pretty much had the time to stay inside the room with your classmates.

Most of them were sleeping and some of them were doing the other tasks they had for the last session.

Your eyes turn to your phone again, expecting that the time would pass by quickly and you'd finish your classes without any sort of drama.

Unfortunately, you were interrupted when Y/B waved their hand in front of you to catch your attention.

Eyes widened, and you heard them asking you to play with them right outside as they yelled right outside the door. They couldn't even hide the excitement in their tone as they approached you. "Come on, it will be fun!"

Most of your classmates had now directed their attention towards you and you scoffed.

You weren't really in the mood to stick around under the sun nor get up in your chair and interact with people. So, you crossed your arms and shake your head. "No, I think I'll pass."

"We're playing hide and seek," your friend claimed as they tried to drag you along. You gripped the armrest real tight and tried prying their hand away. You knew a simple no wouldn't work. You should've expected this.

Putting your phone in your pocket with your other hand, you pulled yourself away from their grasp and made sure to stay in the room. They pouted at you, dismayed. But, agreed, fortunately.

Only for a second.

Of course, you knew your peace wouldn't last for a second. they just had to think of something to get you interested in participating - which was dragging the idea that your crush would be there to participate.

"You know...C/N would be there," they casually told you and you could feel your heart pounding fast. No, there's no way they would be. Still, you made sure to stand your ground and still say no. They're just lying.

Y/B smirked, knowing all too well that you were going to give up one way or another.

And of course, your crush just had to be there at that exact moment.

"Are we going to play or not?" C/N walked right into the room and they suddenly noticed you and Y/B having a conversation.

You could tell that they were confused, judging the raised eyebrow and arms crossed so suddenly. "Am I interrupting something?"

Y/B grinned and decided to play with it. "Ah no, I was just talking to Y/N and asking if they want to play. Unfortunately-"

Knowing your best friend would say that you wouldn't want to join, you decided to interrupt, "Fine, I'll join. Let's play!"

C/N seems shocked at your sudden outburst and Y/B looks amused at the sudden yell. Even your classmates looked back at you and you turned red in embarrassment.

Y/B decided to tease you a bit though. Your cheeks had a bright shade of red but luckily C/N dismissed the look and smiled right at you.

They didn't seem to notice that Y/B had been laughing quietly to themselves the whole time, clearly enjoying this. They seemed to have come up with the perfect plan.

Their plan to make trap you and C/N together in one place could finally succeed and maybe, just maybe, one of you would confess if they do that. Hell, it's already a foolproof plan in their head.

Once you got ready, you decided to follow them outside as Y/B declared the rules of hide and seek. The rules were simple. You can leave your spots as long as the seeker doesn't catch you.

The seeker only has 15 minutes to look for everyone. If everyone isn't caught by the time the timer runs out, the seeker would lose.

As you looked at your bestfriend, they seem very confident about winning. She was so convinced of the idea that she had already know the place where you would hide. You only smirked at this.

There was no way you'd let them find you first.

Everyone had now walked side by side as you tried to think of where to go first. The lockers and janitor closet were obvious. Even the bathrooms. Classrooms as well. Gym, still, it would be easy to locate.

Since Y/B was the hunter, you knew well that you're the first one they're gonna seek. Maybe you could go somewhere else than the gym and just sneak to a smaller space where they couldn't catch you.

The vents? Possible but harder to do.

Y/B finally started counting. You ran towards the laboratory, thinking that you can possibly hide in one of the cabinets down there when C/N suddenly grabbed your hand and headed towards the library.

"Are you planning to lose? Why are we going this way?!" you exclaimed with disbelief. You felt like you had lost your mind for believing in these ridiculous ideas.

It wasn't safe for either of you. And C/N didn't even seem to care.

C/N shrugged and continued running. "It's better than hiding in the gym. We don't need to worry about being found. Besides, I'm sure you'll find a good spot soon enough."

You sighed, "I was going to the lab actually."

"And be in a small cabinet having no way to run if they're near? I don't think so." I guess you can manuever better in the library. Plus, it's huge enough to hide in another shelf.

You both kept going forward until both of you reached the library. There weren't much students around and the librarian wasn't as strict as the last one. So, you two decided to hide on the center, behind on one of the shelves, peeking every second to see if Y/B is near.

"So..." you awkwardly began, trying to start a conversation. "What made you join the game? You rarely do."

"Your bestfriend," they shortly answered and from how they said it, you thought that they were the reason why they joined.

They liked your bestfriend.

Even until now, you couldn't help but feel your heart shattering into pieces.

"Oh," you muttered to yourself. "I didn't know you like them that way.

Your smile dropped and nodded, silence engulfing the very moment. They noticed this and realized it, immediately waving their hands. "Oh no, you got it all wrong. What I meant was that your bestfriend invited me to play."

"I actually decided to join since they told me you'd be there." They smiled sheepishly at you before turning their head away, cheeks tinted in red.

To be honest, you were pretty sure you were blushing just like them. This was probably the first time they've ever been comfortable enough to admit to liking someone so openly like this.

For a few seconds, the two of you stayed silent, both avoiding to look at each other. Until you decided to break the silence, "I don't want to assume but does that mean you like me? More than a friend, that is.

You were then hesitant to continue. "Or did you join because of the mere thought that I was here just makes you happy and you actually just think of me as a friend?"

Your heart almost stopped beating when they turned their attention back to you and leaned, capturing your lips quickly before pulling away. "Does that answer your question?"

You were about to answer him but the voice of Y/B calling out your names startled you.

C/N looked at you and smiled, kissing your forehead before telling you to find another hiding spot. "Go on, I'll buy you some time. There's another door on the other side."

"I might have lost the game but I got you in the end, didn't I? I would consider that as a win."

You couldn't help but shake your head at them and smiled. "I guess we both won then."
