Veronica's POV
I was standing watching my life fall apart on the football field, I was supposed to be Archie at the five seasons, but no. I was on the there sobbing while still in my prom dress. He betrayed me, they both did. He was h p no my boyfriend and she was supposed to be my best friend but there they were. Making out behind the bleachers.
A few minutes earlier
Veronica- "hey Cheryl, h-have you seen Archie? Or Betty? Cheryl- "I was just about to come kind you. You're not going to like this Veronica" Veronica- (chuckles) "w-what are you talking about?" Cheryl- "they went behind the bleachers.. together" Veronica- "what! But that's where he and I go" Cheryl- "I'm so sorry Veronica, Toni and I are here if you need us" Veronica- (sighs) "thanks Cher"
I walked out to the football field, and was very scared as to what I would find and there they were. My heart broke in half as I watched him with her. He never kissed me like he kissed her, or even looked at me the way he looked at her. They were meant to be and I knew it was a matter of time before I got hurt
Jughead- "I can't believe it" I looked beside me and saw Jughead standing beside me. Jughead- "I knew it, I knew they wouldn't be able to keep their hands off each other" it was then when Betty and Archie turned and looked at us
Betty- "Ve- Jug, I-I" Jughead- "save it Betty, come on Veronica" I turned around to join him but then I felt a pull on my wrist. Veronica- "let go Archie" I turned back but I didn't see Archie, I saw Betty instead. Betty- (in tears) "Ve I-I'm so sorry" Veronica- "you should be"
I pulled my hand away before catching up to Jughead. It hurt to see even though I knew it was a matter of time. He surprisingly grabbed my hand as we walked to the front of the school. Veronica- "thanks Jughead" Jughead- "for what? I didn't do anything" Veronica- "well you know how I feel. You and Betty dated longer then me and Archie" Jughead- "I know. But I also knew that they were going to end up together" Veronica- (sighs) "yeah, so did I"
We continued walking until we reached Pop's. Jughead- "wanna grab a shake?" Veronica- "the weirdo of Riverdale is asking me to get a milkshake? How could I possibly say no" he chuckled as I laughed for a second. We walked into Pop's together and sat down in a booth as Tabitha brought over a basket of fries.
Tabitha- "well aren't you two an odd couple" Veronica- "we haven't had the best night" Tabitha- "how so?" Jughead- (sighs) "we just caught Betty and Archie making out after prom" Tabitha- "yikes, what did you do?" Veronica- "told them to fuck off and walked here" Tabitha- "aw, I'm sorry guys. And so close to graduation too" Veronica- "can we just get some milkshakes please Tab?" Tabitha- "of course, I'll be right back"
She left our table as I sighed and put my head on my hand. Jughead- "do you think they'll get together?" Veronica- "the girl next door and the boy next door, right beside her? Of course they'll get together" Jughead- "so then what do we do?" Veronica- "start dating and make the entire town extremely confused?" He stopped every small move in his body stopped as I laughed. Veronica- "relax, I'm just joking" Jughead- "but what if you weren't though?"
I paused myself and looked at him with the most blank expression I could make. Jughead- "No seriously. What if we did that to make them jealous? It would be surprising to everyone" Veronica- "b-but what would we do?" Jughead- "just be seen together I guess, nothing behind closed doors"
Tabitha came back over and sat our milkshakes down on the table. Tabitha- "there you are, anything else?" Veronica- "a question actually. If Jughead and I just told you that we were dating.. would you believe us?" I looked at jughead who had a small smirk on his face as Tabitha smiled. Tabitha- "I would say it's about time. You two planning to fake date to get back at them?" Jughead- "I mean would could just sit around mopping" Veronica- (smiles) "but this seems way more fun"
She playfully rolled her eyes at us before walking away. Veronica- "alright Jones, here's to us" I held my milkshake up as he clinked our glasses together
The next day we made plans to get to school together. Since prom was on a Thursday night we knew a lot of people wouldn't be there meaning the rumours would spread online. We walked in holding hands as Cheryl and Toni gasped at us
I winked at Jughead as he just shook his head playfully. We continued down the hall as I was trying so hard not to laugh. We were actually pulling it off and I was so excited to see Betty and Archie's faces.
Betty- "Oh my god there you are, Ve we have to talk" Jughead- "what about me? I was the one you fucking cheated on" Veronica- "It's okay Juggiekins, I've got this. Betty... stay the hell away from us. And you can pass that message along to Archie when you go to fuck him later"
I linked Jughead and I's arms together before walking away from her. Jughead- "damn Veronica, that was badass" Veronica- "I was just saying what we were both thinking. I hate that they have each other" Jughead- "well as far as they know.. we have each other" Veronica- (smiles) "yeah, yeah we do"
For the rest of the day, Jughead and I barely left each other's side. We were joined at the hip and everyone was watching us at all times. At the end of the day we started walking to Pop's but as we got closer, we noticed that it was unusually busy
Veronica- "d-do you wanna go to my place instead? It's not far and my parents are in New York making some shady deal" Jughead- "oh, um sure yeah" we walked to my place and I was a little nervous. I had never had Jughead over just by ourselves mainly because we've never had a reason to be alone until now. I never noticed how cute he looked when he laughed or funny he actually was. I would never steal my best friend's boyfriend but it turned out that she wouldn't have done the same
Jughead- "can I ask you a weird question?" Veronica- "sure" Jughead- "do you miss Archie?" I sighed and sat down on my bed. He sat down a little father away as I fittled with my hands. Veronica- (sighs) "Maybe? I don't know. I think the main thing I've missed in the past couple hours was someone being there for me. Like just not having a boyfriend is hard for me. I know that sounds so stupid but it's true"
He slid a little closer to me as I let our a little sniffle. He grabbed my hand as I looked at him. Jughead- (softly) "I don't think that's stupid" Veronica- (sniffles) "y-you don't?" She shook his head before wrapping his arms around me. It was strangely comforting, mainly because I wasn't expecting it. Once he pulled his arms away I looked between his eyes and his lips. I could tell he was thinking the same thing. I made the first move and things just escalated from there
The next morning
I woke up half naked beside Jughead. I was shocked by myself and I'm guessing he would be too. I smiled for a second before I heard Jughead talk. Jughead- (smiles) "I'm glad you don't think you made a mistake" Veronica- "oh I made a mistake, and that was dated Archie for so long when you were right in front of me" Jughead- "does this mean we're just like them?" Veronica- "I don't think so, I mean I guess less than forty eight hours ago we were in different relationships but remember, they cheated on us. We just got lucky" Jughead- (chuckles) "oh yeah?" Veronica- (giggles) "yeah"
We started for real dating a week later and I was actually really happy. It was amazing to be with someone who I was confident wouldn't cheat on me and even though we were an unlikely pair, we were perfect for each other.
