The Perfect Proposal (Varchie)

Archie's POV

I knew Veronica was the one, I had known it for years. We had been dating for almost eight years and I knew it was finally time to pop the jquestion. Betty and Jughead were already married and so were Cheryl and Toni. Betty and Jughead were even expecting their first kid

I felt bad for waiting so long but I wanted to make sure that it was the right time so one day when Veronica went to work I called Betty who was on maternity leave to come and help me.

We still lived next door so I just went over and knocked on the door. Betty- "hey Arch, ready to go?" Archie- "should be, is it weird to be nervous?" Betty- (laughs) "maybe? Jughead said he was when he went shopping for mine" Archie- "I just want to find the best one, Veronica's not always the most easy person to shop for" she laughed again before grabbing a sweater and meeting me outside

Betty- "I know she's going to love whatever you pick out" I was very glad that Betty agreed to come with me. I would never be able to do it on my own so I was extremely grateful for her help.

We got to the jewelry store and I was immediately overwhelmed with everything. Of course Veronica had took me before because well it's Veronica but it was weird without her there. Betty- "so, any Ideas?" Archie- "I don't even know where to start. I just want everything to be perfect" Betty- "oh Archie, she's going to love anything you do because she loves you" Archie- "but It's Veronica Betty, I just want to prove that I'm good enough for her"

She rubbed my shoulder with a smile. Betty- "of course you're good enough for her, you're awesome Arch" Archie- "thanks Betty"

We spent the day looking for the perfect ring and I finally found it. It wasn't huge but Betty and I both agreed that it was the right one. We said our goodbyes before heading into the houses. Veronica still wasn't home which was a huge relief. I hid the ring before sitting down and watching some tv so Veronica wouldn't be suspicious of anything. I was really excited to find the one and couldn't wait to give it to her

Veronica- "hey Archiekins" Archie- "he Roni" she leaned down and kissed me before taking off her coat. Veronica- "eventful day?" Archie- "you could say that. I went for a visit to the community centre to make sure everything was okay, the I checked on Betty"

Veronica- "I'm so excited for them, they're little bean is going to be so cute" Archie- "I know, they're meant for each other" Veronica- (smiles) "and so are we, we'll be a family too"

She came over and sat down beside me and put her head on my shoulder. Archie- "I love you Roni, and I really hope you know that" Veronica- "I definitely do, and I love you too" she kissed my cheek as I turned off the tv and wrapped my arms around her. I loved her and I was so happy that she loved me back

Every day for the nect week I talked with Betty about what I should do and finally the day came. I set up an amazing day with her and we would end in pickens park with a sunset. I couldn't wait to pop the question and my hands were shaking all day.

Veronica- (smiles) "what's this all about Archie?" We were walking down the sidewalk on the way to the park and I was so excited. Archie- "I just thought you deserved it, and I love spending time with you" I kissed the top of her head as we walked. Once we got to the park I finally worked up the courage to say something but then her phone went off

Veronica- "shit! We have to go! Betty passed out and was rushed to the hospital"  she immediately grabbed my hand and we ran back to the house. We got in the car and sped to the hospital.

We walked into the waiting room and saw Jughead talking to the woman at the receptionist desk. Veronica- "Jughead, what happened?" Jughead- "I-I don't know. She said she was feeling tired and was going to get something but then passed out. They took her for an emergency c-section about an hour ago" He was so upset and he had the look of fear in his eyes. I couldn't imagine what I would be feeling if it was Veronica instead.
