Silent Love (Beronica)

Veronica's POV

I was on my way to the Cooper house to welcome the new girl that they were taking in. I was already friends with Polly and was surprised when she told me they were fostering a girl from the sisters of quiet mercy. I reached the house and was greeted by Polly and Hal sitting in the living room

Polly- "hey Veronica! Glad you could make it!" Veronica- "yeah, me too Pol"

She ran over to me before linking our arms together and taking me upstairs

Veronica- "so? Where's the famous Elizabeth?" Polly- "my mom's helping her, she doesn't really talk and by that I mean not one of us has heard what her voice sounds like" I nodded. Polly- "but she seems pretty nice"

She took me to her bedroom and I found a nice spot on the corner of her bed as she sat on her desk chair

Polly- "so, how are your parents doing?" Veronica- (sighs) "fine I guess, my dad moved all of his stuff out into his apartment and my mom's still out every night" Polly- "I'm sorry Ve, I know how hard that is for you"

She came over and hugged me tightly. I loved being with Polly because she always made me feel better no matter what was going on around us. We stayed like that for almost a minute before someone knocked on the door. I turned around and saw the most gorgeous girl standing in front of Alice. She had light blonde hair and beautiful green eyes, she looked shy but also very kind

Alice- "hi Veronica, Polly told me you were coming over. This is Elizabeth"

I waved as she waved back. She was blushing with her arms crossed which confused me a little but I didn't think anything of it

Veronica- "so, d-do you wanna come sit with us?" Polly- "yeah?! C'mon"

She looked at Alice who nodded with a smile before she looked back at us. She slowly nodded and walked towards us. She sat down beside me as I reached my hand over for hers. She took it and sat down next to me with her legs crossed

Veronica- "so Betty, are you going to Riverdale high?" She nodded. Polly- "actually that's one of the reasons I invited you over. She's a year younger then me and we were hoping you'd be able to stay with her" Veronica- "me? Really?" Polly- "we trust you Ve, and if it's okay with both of you we thought you could help her"

We looked at each other as she smiled softly. I smiled back even though I wasn't completely sure if I wanted to. It was awkward for a second before Polly cleared her throat

Polly- "so.. you're OK with this?" Veronica- "definitely, if Elizabeth's okay with it" she nodded.

We both looked at her as she nodded again. I knew it wasn't her fault but it was a little annoying that she didn't talk. I really didn't want to push her but I was anxious to hear her voice

Veronica- "alright then, time for the best part. Your makeover!

Her eyes widened as she looked at Polly as she laughed

Veronica- (chuckles) "don't worry, nothing big bit maybe some new clothes and a nickname" Polly- "it's okay, we'll make sure it works"

She looked hesitant but eventually did nod her head yes. Polly and I were so excited to give her a glow up and we decided to start with a nickname

Polly- "OK, so something cute and maybe a little retro" Veronica- "how's Lizzie?" She shook her head. Polly- "Beth?" She scrunched her eyebrows and shook her head again. Veronica- "what about Betty? Cute but still classy" Polly- "oh my gosh I love it! We could even call you Be" she nodded and smiled Veronica- "before, Betty. Now let's try some clothes"
