Her Fake Smile (Chetty)

I was terrified about getting close to someone because I didn't want to get hurt

One day I was walking down the hall after a wrong number text to Betty Cooper. She was the good girl and always seemed to be happy. I accidentally texted her to hang out with me, I tried to explain that it was for someone else but no matter what it would've been torture

I went to my locker and was scared by Betty coming up behind me. Cheryl- "Jeez, Betty give a girl a warning" she just stood there all happy and smiling which was weird to me. Betty- "sorry Cher, I just thought we could walk to class together" Cheryl- "oh sweet sweet Betty, we're not actually going to hang out" Betty- "what?" Cheryl- "I just made a mistake that's all" Betty- "so? That doesn't mean we can't walk to class together! I mean I'm already here and we could start to get closer!" She was so chipper for it being eight in the morning but I just gave in and we walked together

Once we got to my class she hugged me before I watched her walk back the same way we had come. Her class was on the other side of the school and yet she still wanted to walk with me.

I rolled my eyes as I sat down. I could feel every girl staring at me in disgust but I was used to it. They all hated me but I didn't care. I always just moved on to the next girl and that's how I liked it, or tried to convince myself that's how I liked it.

After the bell rang for lunch and I immediately went to my secluded spot for lunch and just did some homework. I secretly really cared about my grades but know one knew. I didn't really open up to anyone and I was really sheltered. I liked being by myself because that's the only thing I knew. 

I was listening to my music when I saw a shadow come over me. I looked up and saw Betty standing there with her cheeky smile. Betty- (smiles) "hey Cher! Can I join" I rolled my eyes before looking back at her. Cheryl- "fine, whatever" I moved my books as she sat down beside me. Betty- "so, whatcha working on?"

Cheryl- "just some math, I-It's not my best subject" Betty- "that's okay Cheryl, I can help. I took that last year, it's actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it"

She grabbed my textbook as I just looked at her dumbfounded. I had been trying to get rid of her but maybe she wasn't all that bad. She was trying to teach me but I kept glancing at her. She seemed so caring and nice but I didn't want her to get hurt which was why I pushed people away

The rest of the day went by and Betty met up with me by the gym. She linked our arms and we started walking out of the school. We are about to turn towards my place but I stopped her

Cheryl- "Betty? C-Could we go somewhere else?" I she nodded with her signature smile. We turned back around and went to Pop's for a quick meal.

Cheryl- "can I be honest with you Betty?" She took my hand as I stared at her lips. They always seemed to be in a smile. I don't think I had ever seen this girl frown. Betty- (smiles) "of course Cher, go for it" Cheryl- "I-I've been a bitch to you for years and I'm sorry" Betty- "it's okay Cher, I get it. It's hard for you to open up to people and that's okay"

I let out a sigh of relief as she let go of my hand. Cheryl- "thank you for understanding Betty, It means a lot" she nodded as I smiled. Cheryl- "I'm glad we came here Betty, I am" Betty- "That's good Cher, I'm happy you're glad"

Her smile never left her face which I loved but then I noticed something else. Her sleeve rolled up a little and I saw the edge of a huge purple bruise. Cheryl- "Betty? What's that?" Her eyes widened as she pulled her hand under the table, but her smiled stayed the same

Cheryl- "Betty? Tell me please" Betty- (smiles) "I'm fine, I promise" that's when I knew something was wrong with her. I left some money for Pop and Tabitha before grabbing Betty's hand and speed walking to Thornhill.

Betty- (smiles) "Cher what are you doing?" Cheryl- "I want to know why you're hiding this" I pushed her sleeve up and gasped at the real size of the bruise. Cheryl- "oh my god Betty!" I used my fingers to trace the bruise as she winced. I looked at her face as her smile finally dropped

Betty- "you can't tell anyone, you have to just forget about it" she tried to move her arm back but I held onto it. Cheryl- "Betty, what's this from" Betty- (softly) "I-I got a B, my mom got mad" Cheryl- "what?! Betty you can't be serious" Betty- (in tears) "Cheryl you can't say anything, I-I can handle this" Cheryl- "you obviously can't, please let me help you. I-I have a secret too" Betty- (sniffles) "w-what?" Cheryl- "I don't actually live here, I have a small apartment on the south side of town"

Her mouth fell open as I bit my lip. I hated living with my parents and I knew she did too. Cheryl- "please come stay with me Betty,  I have enough space and we can save each other" She looked at her arms and sighed. Betty- (softly) "what if they find me? It would be really bad Cher, like really bad" Cheryl- "I won't let them let a finger on you"I took both of her hands and made her meet my eyes. Cheryl- (softly) "I promise you"

She smiled again as I put my finger under her chin and smiled back at her. Cheryl- (in tears) "there it is. There's that smile" she blushed and giggled

Cheryl- (sniffles) "so? Will you move in with me?" Betty- "yes, yes I'll move in with you" she leaned in and hugged me. Cheryl- "come on, let's go see our place" she giggled as I took her hand and we ran out of the house. We got to the apartment and I could tell by the look in her eye that she was happy and relieved to get out of her parents place.

Betty- "Cheryl I can't express how amazing this is to me. No one has ever done anything like this for me before" she ran into my arms as I smiled. Cheryl- "I think this is going to be good for both of us, I really do"

She nodded and smiled bigger then I had ever seen before. Betty- "c-can I try something without you freaking or kicking me out" Cheryl- "sure Betty" she looked into my eyes before she pulled me into a kiss. It definitely surprised me but I definitely didn't want it to end. I picked her up as I wrapped her legs around my waist as she giggled again

Betty- (smiles) "Bedroom?" Cheryl's- (smiles) "Bedroom." I carried her in and a couple hours later we were laying in bed starting at each other. Betty- "I'm excited to see how this plays out" Cheryl- "you and me both"

I looked at her lips that formed that perfect smile that I was easily falling in love with. And I knew everything was going to be okay

I started opening up to her and she always helped me and I wasn't scared to get hurt anymore. I loved her so much and I knew she loved me back. We saved each other and that was all we could ever ask for
