'Alessandro Vitale is going to be there.'

I sat on Ralph's lap, caught between the echoes of Alexei's words and the delicate brush of Ralph's breath on my neck, a sensation of hope swept over my body, causing goosebumps to rise on my skin. The realization dawned on me. After years of enduring a relentless game of fate, I was on the ridge of fetching the freedom I so deeply craved.

There had always been a restless desiring within me, a longing to break free from the chains that held me captive, from the men that played with my fate. Each passing moment seemed to intensify this desperation, and now, standing at the crossroads of opportunity, it was as if the God had conspired to grant me a chance at freedom.

Alexei's words reverberated through my head, a resounding rhythm of hope, fueling my courage.

And yet, it was not only Alexei's words that electrified my senses, but also the presence of Ralph, his breath gently grazing my neck. An undeniable warmth washed over me, intertwining with the pulsating hope that resonated within every inch of my body. It served as a reminder that I was not the only one fighting here.

If my will to flee was strong, their determination to keep me captive was unwavering.

Then again, maybe it was for the best. I was tired of running, tired of fighting. Yet I desired freedom. I was ready to bargain everything only for a single chance. The warmth of sun rays penetrating through the windows suddenly felt warmer.

I understand now that these men were always destined to destroy me. It was written in the stars on the day they were born.

"That's it. Feel it," he murmured into my ear, loosening his grip on my waist, and perversely, it was his words that provided me with the strength to resist the insidious desire thrumming inside me, the treacherous arousal weakening my knees. I was not immune to them, neither their presences, and they knew it. Ralph enjoyed the effect he had on me.

With a jerky movement, I twisted out of his hold and shifted on his lap, scooping the food before focusing on ignoring him. I needed to avoid them. It was for better.

Killian let out humourless laugh, cursing in German as Ralph snickered at him.

Throughout the breakfast I tried not to think about Ralph's impatient teasing touches, Killian's jealous eyes and Alexei's unbothered eyes. I finished the food earlier and now was waiting for Ralph to let go of me. I sneakily glanced at Killian who seemed rather pissed this morning. He had a scowl on his face and a look of irritation on his lips. I wonder if it had anything to do with last night.

Suddenly my thoughts wandered to the person on the wheelchair. Killian seemed protective of that person. It further infuriated my curiosity. It was like a red moon in million years to see Killian showing an emotion for someone. There was a squeeze in my chest at the realisation. So his cruelt was reserved for me only? He'd rather show me his ruthlessness than be nice to me.

"Mr Volkov, the maid you called is here." I was so engrossed in my own thoughts I did not realised a guard just entered the dining hall. He bowed to Alexei who dismissed him with the wave of his hand.

Maid. So Alexei was not bluffing.

"Show her the quarters." She was going to stay here? I let out a sigh. At least I would have someone to keep me company other than these psychos which made me wonder. Maybe I could ask her to get contraceptive pills for me.

"What are you thinking, little mouse?" Ralph breathed agaisnt my ear as I shook my head nervously. If any of them found out about my plan, I better say goodbye to my last hope.

My heart pounded louder and faster, causing an adrenaline rush to surge through my veins. Every nerve in my body seemed to be on high alert, aware of his every move. When his hand, seemingly moving in slow motion, extended towards me, a gasp involuntarily escaped my lips. Time itself seemed to freeze as his fingers delicately brushed against the contours of my chin, a gentle yet possessive touch that sent shivers down my spine.
