The Fourth Chapter

"Maggi, stop," I commanded firmly, and he frowned, sitting beside me with a look of confusion.

"I'm trying to have a serious conversation with you; stop wagging your tail," I complained wearily. I'm tired and sleep deprived.

In response, he barked, and I interpreted it as his way of apologizing to me.

"Okay, so your Mumma is going to come live with us soon. You'll behave, alright?" I spoke, staring at him, and he whined in response, prompting me to scratch his head affectionately.

"Now, go shed all that unnecessary weight you've gained. Take a run," I said, shooing him out. He had packed on more than five kilograms in just a month-mota ho gaya hai. Meine Vaahi ko bola tha itna ice cream mat khilana.

Shaking my head, I got up from the carpet, dusting my hands, and walked towards the small office corner in my room where files were scattered all over the place, waiting for my attention.

"Fuck," I muttered under my breath, trying to locate the files related to the Ahuja deal. Just then, my phone rang.

The phone rang persistently, and my heart quickened its pace as I saw Roohi's name flashing on the screen. Without a moment's hesitation, I snatched the phone up.

Roohi.

Her name is a melody that resonates within me, a soothing rhythm that makes every worry fade away. Just the mention of her name has the power to fill my heart with contentment, as if everything in the world aligns perfectly when she's in my thoughts.

Just the thought of Roohi by my side makes me feel like I've found my anchor, a sanctuary of safety and warmth.

I leaned against the edge of my bed, the scattered files momentarily forgotten as I focused on the conversation. Roohi's voice flowed through the phone, and I couldn't help but just smile.

"Rudra- are you there?" she called out, pulling me out of my trance. "Yeah, sorry. Why are you awake?" I asked, making my way back to reality.

"Actually, I had to inform you about something," she said, sounding detached, which made me frown in confusion. "What is it, Roohi?," I urged, feeling my anxiety slowly creeping up.

"Okay, well, I think they're getting me married tomorrow to some random dude," she said in a surprisingly calm manner. It took me a minute to register what she was saying.
