Just know if I randomly stop updating it's because I really need to focus for the test that are coming up, I'm not good at studying but I would like to try since these test are very much important to my grades. Also, it isn't easy having to study and take all these test as a high school student with dyslexia so I need to put a lot more focus into it. I love writing this but for now I'm more focused on how my future is going to look like so I'll be updating whenever I can possible. Please understand, I'm sorry!

THANK YOU FOR 17K READS!! <3

"And... checkmate!" I announced, moving my last piece.

Ellie looked at the board and then up at me in pure astonishment, "Wha— 5th time?!"

Owen looked down at us as we were playing on the coffee table of the living room, sitting down on the floor. He was watching television while Lorenzo was out to go check up on his house.

Though we agreed he should live with us for a while until he found a new one, he said he didn't want to find a new one and would just get some extra protection inside and outside of the mansion.

"What happened?" Owen asked as he heard Ellie slightly scream.

"I won again." I said with a proud smile.

"He's cheating, there's no way!" Ellie said, looking at Owen.

Owen chuckled at her anger, looking over at me, "You're supposed to be playing fair with her, cheater. She's a beginner, go easy on her for now."

"This is me going easy on her," I replied, looking over at Ellie, "So much for beginners luck though." I said with a wink.

She scrunched up her nose out of anger, crossing her arms over her chest. She was so fucking adorable when she was mad, though I didn't want to frustrate her since that would just be mean.. but it was also incredibly funny to me. Playfully, I stuck my tongue out at her, her face easing up and letting out a giggle.

"Alright kids, maybe it's time for you guys to pick a different game to play, an easy one that isn't hard to teach."

I looked over at Ellie, "Is there any game you know how to play?"

She shook her head, "We've already played the only game I remembered how to play which was Uno."

God this poor girl really was taken out of a childhood. I've been teaching her how to play a few games since Lorenzo left this morning. All I wanted to do was focus on Ellie today, especially after yesterday. There was so much that I wanted to show her, I wanted to give her the childhood she missed out on but I also wanted to do it on a day that just wasn't today.

As I was putting the chess board and pieces away, I heard a sniffle coming from Ellie. I look up at her and watched as her eyes wandered around in a fast pace, a tear coming right after that she quickly wiped away.

"Ellie, what's wrong?" I asked, quickly getting up and moving to her.

"I-I don't know.." she hiccuped, "I'm n-not sad or anything.."

"Oh baby, it's just sub drop. How about you guys put the games to a stop and come up here to calm down." Owen suggested.

I picked up Ellie from the floor and walked over to the couch, sitting down next to Owen before sitting Ellie down on my lap. She continued to cry, I pushed her head to lay on my chest and started stroking her hair for comfort. Randomly, she started to freak out, her hands running up to her ears.
