+ What if: Harry Lived with Emmanuelle and Sirius? [Part 6]

"And smart." Lee added. "But what about the other stars and constellations."

Tom wrote it all down in order of its dictation. Emmanuelle took the pen from her brother and said, "Remember that little thing Dad would have us do so we could memorize all of the states in America?"

"How could I forget? I hated that game." Tom said, but thinking of it now, he missed having to play that. It was one of the memories he had with his mother and father.

Emmanuelle circled the first letters of each name of the stars and constellations and read it aloud: Mustelidae. STAY. Red Bird. HIDE... Uncle Newt, any idea on what a red bird is?"

"There are a lot of red birds," Newt was about to give a list when Theseus said, "The first thing that pops in your mind, given the current situation."

"A phoenix is a red bird," said the old Magizoologist.

"She's telling the Order to hide," Emmanuelle realized. "They're on to us – we must pull out every single person part of the Order from the Ministry. Now."

"We'll send word." Lee said, getting to work. He and Fred started to send a telegram to the other safehouses so they may reiterate it to the members seeking refuge there. As they try to understand the first part of the message.

As they discussed further about what in meant, and a plan to get Carian, Sirius felt that he knew exactly what it meant but feared to face the truth. Opening his bronze pocket watch – the last gift he got from Regulus – he saw the photo of his children and his wife waving at him. Carina looked at him with a pressed smile, as if the photo of her was telling him that she will be fine.

"She wants to stay in Malfoy's Manor." He finally spoke, breaking the discussion of the plan to get her.

"What do you mean?" Emmanuelle questioned. "You can't be certain."

"Who else was the message for? What else would it mean?" Sirius clenched his jaw.

"No. She can't – I won't let her stay in the place another second." Emmanuelle argued.

Remus took Emmanuelle by her shoulders. "Carina knows the risk –"

"I AM NOT RISKING MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE!"

"—She is already risking her life giving that information. She knows that we need someone inside to help us in this battle. The fact she knew that Order is in more danger now, meant she is hearing their meetings."

"What kind of mother would I be if I left her there?!"

"You're not abandoning her, Nell. You're a good mother to Carina, but given our circumstances, we need her help, all we could do is hope that whoever helped her could keep her safe."

"Remus, please," Emmanuelle cried. "Deimos and Maisie are missing – Harry is missing – two of the children, I have no idea if they're alive – Harry is free but nowhere to be found – but Carina, she's right there... we know where she is, but we can't save her..."

Seeing his wife was not listening the heeds of the others, Sirius spoke to her, pleading. "I know... but even Carina is ready to take the risk... have faith, Nell. Think, what would you have done if you were in her position? Carina is very much like you, so have faith that like you, she will find a way to get back to us."

As much as he wanted to get their daughter, to save her, he knew the risk of going there. They were outnumbered, an attack in the base of operation of the Death Eaters would be a suicide mission – it could cost them everything. Worse, it could also mean Carina's death. They have her as a hostage, so they cannot make any drastic moves, and the fact they have not killed her meant they needed her for something. To lure them to a trap, to lure Harry.
