For first time since the quest started, Theodore would choose the labyrinth than the spider infested building in Kentucky.

As they continued on their journey through the dark labyrinth, Theodore, Carina, and Roman felt the cold winter winds blowing pass them. They wrapped themselves with their jackets, pulled up their hoods, and even used Carina's new shield as a windbreaker just so they could get to the next turn. Theodore suspected that the winds came from another entrance somewhere up north, but that did not matter, but as soon as they came to the next turn, they came face to face with the last kinds of monsters they expected in the labyrinth. Giant scorpions.

Theodore grabbed Carina and Roman by their collars and hid them all behind one of the paths in the labyrinth.

"What are those doing here?" Roman asked.

"What do you think? Who has a collection of monsters to do his bidding?!" Carina whispered. "Luke! He has to be close!"

"Which means, this is bad – really bad," Theodore muttered.

Roman peeked at the manticore but immediately hid behind the wall again before the beasts cold see him.

"How many are there?" Theodor asked.

"I don't know."

"Then why did you check?!"

"I wanted to see if maybe we were wrong and those aren't huge scorpions!"

"Oh, my gods," Carina switched places with Roman, and then went to check the number of scorpions. "There are three of them – not good because they have the upper-hand, we don't have enough grounds to fight on, and because they're big ass scorpions."

"So, what do we do?" Roman asked.

"We take the other route," Theodore answered.

"But, it's weird, how come they can't sense us? Don't demigods have some kind of smell that makes monsters go haywire or something?"

"Must be the winds?" Roman asked. "Or the fact we haven't had a bath for – I don't even know long we've been in here – that our odor is covering our demigod stench. If I knew that from the start, I wouldn't have taken a shower for the past thirteen years of my life."

Carina went to smell her armpits to see if she does stink. It was a mix of human sweat, the dirt, food, firewood, and monster blood. And for a moment she wondered if Theodore and Roman smelled it on her, but based on their journey, they did not comment on it nor were they leaning back from her. Maybe it was because they were facing huge scorpions that were like the ones that killed Orion – not her grandfather, Orion, the hero Orion.

"So, we just go back to where we went to?" Roman asked.

"Good idea," Theodore agreed.

And just as they were to turn back, they heard someone walking towards them from that direction. And from the looks of it, that someone was not alone. Two pairs of footsteps were heard... no, three?

"It has to be Luke," Carina whispered.

"Which means we have to get out of here," Roman agreed with her.

"There's a door at the other turn," Theodore spoke. "If we make a run for it, we might catch the scorpions' attention, but we could run to the door and go through."

"Any idea where it goes?" Roman asked.

"It has to be better than this, right?'

"I'm taking that door than see Luke, let's go," Carina got out her shield. "Roman, you go first, just in case we need someone to ram that door."
