(Spin-off Series 1) INCEPTION

Dearest readers,

I am not very sure just how many times I should be apologizing for such a late update. I can only hope that you all were reading my updates in Veeryashukla and not thinking that I had officially stopped working on the spin-offs of LTIAB. Anyways, I am really sorry for putting Unexpected on-hold, but I really needed some time to think and re-think it over before just writing it out. It is a work-in-progress very close to my heart, and I want it to get all the best. So, I wanted to update this chapter today as a tiny Happy New Year 2022 gift to you all lovely people from my side. I hope you like it, and understand my plight under the pressure of studies, assignments, projects, family functions and practically my whole daily out-of-Wattpad life. Also, my writing isn't very much supported here at home. My parents do appreciate if I get some certain number of reads, votes or maybe an award or compliment from some diligent reader; but I am not allowed to write ( if I get caught). Thus, I need to hide and write - which gets kinda difficult XD

Chapter 2: Inception

Kaartik just knew that she was the one simply because his heart had never before thudded so violently at the proximity of a woman, or maybe because he had never seen eyes as green and bright as hers - it didn't even remind him of a forest, for it was far too unique - it only reminded him of her; the lady in his arms.

However, he could feel perplexed suspicion radiate off of his sister's being, and it was too contagious to not have started gnawing at his heart as well. Now that he lay sated, he realized the true relevance of her suspicion and it spooked him to actually feel it.

How did he fall for this particular forest nymph like no other? Like really, she wasn't even a water nymph - his favorite kind. A romantic gentleman was probably the last thing that he was, very much unlike his own noble father, and all these points didn't very much fit together.

He turned to his side, and nibbled a decisive kiss at the crook of her neck. Her eyes flew open before she stirred and the God of War knew that sleep was only a pretense.

His warm kiss was replaced by the kiss of the cold and sharp metal blade that immediately drew a stray drop of blood. "Who are you?", the question was laced with venom that only a God as viciously fierce a warrior as himself, could manage. Her delicate lips parted and then curved up at the corners. "I thought you would never ask". The soft whisper rang with the tinge of Divinity that only a Goddess could possess, and the God of War's grip on the hilt of the blade softened.

Her green eyes met his and he knew exactly why he had fallen for those - their intensity was unwavering and their brightness blinding.

"Devayani"

She whispered only one word, before the tears brimming her eyes finally slid down the side of her cheek.

His eyes widened as realization dawned upon him. This was the ethereal lady with the button nose that scrunched up in the cutest fashion when she laughed. This was the lady who's eyes had first enamored him. How had he not recognised her?
