Chapter 95: Felines and Nine Lives

I willed my stomach to contain the bile that was rising up to my throat.

I swallowed.
I took deep breaths.

They were all of no use as I felt vile bile pass my throat, onto my mouth. I clamped down on my mouth and rushed from the garden like the very devil was on my heels, my mind almost forgetting where the bathroom was.

~~~~~~
I handed my son's ice cream bowl to his nana and picked up my skirts. What could possibly be wrong with him? My eyes followed his retreating form. A smile automatically plastered itself on my lips as I passed guests who complimented me on the great party, food, and entertainment. My head absent-mindedly bobbed in an affirmative answer.
Before I could completely leave the garden, Mamá pulled me aside to ask about her son. "Maine, is there something wrong with RJ? He almost ran into me in his haste to go wherever he was headed."
"He hasn't mentioned anything to me." I looked back at the guests who were still milling around the garden. "Mamá, can you take care of the guests for us? I'll just see to RJ."
"Of course, you don't have to mention it." She told me, patting my hand. "Now, go and find your husband."
~~~~~~~

'UGH!' I slumped on the cold tiled floor of the outdoor restroom in the garden, heaving and disgusted with what I just did. My eyes widened in disbelief. 'Not again!' I cried out even as I grip the bowl, emptying the contents of my stomach yet again.

I felt a soft hand touching my cheek followed by a cool towel being pressed on my forehead complete with a gentle hand rubbing my back. "Love? Are you alright? Do you want me to call a doctor?"

I took the towel from her and wiped my mouth. "No. I think that was the last of it." My throat welcomed the cleansing feeling of the water that she handed to me. Her hand touched my forehead.

"You're a bit warm to the touch. Are you sure you don't want me to call a doctor?"

The towel she used to wipe my mouth and the rest of my face muddled my answered.

"What?"

I hooked my hands around her waist. "I said, who needs a doctor when I got a nurse as beautiful as you?"

I smirked up at the starless sky. I guess I didn't ask nice enough. I just walked back into the dining area when big fat raindrops started falling. Now, I know they don't like me. I stared at the set table and food in the warmer. What a bummer! Everything was ready except for the ambience. Thunder clapped and lightning streaked the dark sky. I got to my feet and went to work.

First stop, linen closet. I knew I bought some dark sheets some time ago. Second, store room. Now where did I put those Christmas lights? I dumped all my materials on the living room floor and pushed the furniture to the side to create more space. I flexed my muscles and stretched.

Move over Milky Way. Here comes Galaxy Ray.

I switched off the lights in the penthouse and marveled at my impromptu creation. Who would have thought I had creativity running through my veins. I lifted the flap of the make-shift tent I set up in the middle of the living room and entered a different universe.
