'*Dandelions - Ruth B.*'

FRIDAY 14.01.2022

Two days later, the 100,000 copies of my book had already been sold and more were being produced. My publicist told me that my novel was being translated into twenty new languages. Never in my life had I felt such pride. I loved what I had written, but I never imagined that I would be of interest to so many people around the world. It was simply unimaginable for someone like me.

"Are you ready Love?" Tom asked me as we walked into the bedroom. "Oh - you look radiant," he complimented me as he watched me.

"Thanks," I blushed as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "And yes, I'm ready," I informed him as I kissed him.

After more than 30 minutes of driving, we arrived in front of a gigantic and beautiful house. My hands were totally sweaty and I could feel my throat tightening. I took long breaths as Tom hummed the lyrics to the song "This city - Sam Fischer" that was playing on the radio. He stopped his car behind a closed garage door and turned off the engine.

"Don't worry Love, everything will be fine," he promised, looking at me with a big smile.

I puffed out my chest one last time before kissing him. I was even more stressed than when I read my book in front of hundreds of strangers.

"Come on," he ordered me as he opened his car door.

Tom held his arm out to me and I wrapped my fingers around his. Standing in front of the large wooden front door, he looked into my blue eyes and pressed his forehead against mine.

"Just breathe okay? Everything is going to be okay," he reassured me as he held me close.

He pressed a finger to the doorbell and walked into the house while his palm rested on my lower back.

"We're here!" he shouted as he closed the door.

He took off my jacket, placed it on a belt and took off his shoes. He was dressed in the black pants I had bought him in Switzerland and a thick white sweater. He looked wonderful.

"Hi honey," exclaimed a woman coming up behind Tom.

"Hi mom," he greeted her, kissing her cheek before giving her a hug.

My heart beat rapidly in my aching chest. Tom had met my dad, sure, but it wasn't meant to be. And now I was about to meet his parents.

"You must be Emily, I'm so glad to meet you. My name is Diana," she introduced herself, holding out her arms to me.

She was a beautiful woman with short, almost white blonde hair. Her smile was as warm as Tom's. I quickly understood where my man got his charm from.

"Hi," I exclaimed as I weakly hugged her. "It's nice to meet you too. And thank you for inviting me into your home," I said again, shaking.

Diana took a few steps back and put her hands on my shoulders, staring at me for a few seconds.

"You look absolutely beautiful," she finally told me.

"Thank you so much," I thanked her with a big smile as my cheeks began to heat up.

Behind her, I could see Tom watching us with satisfaction. He had a cracking little smile that puffed up his cheekbones. A man about the same size as Tom appeared at the end of the hallway. He had all gray hair and wore thin prescription glasses.

"Hey kid," he exclaimed as he placed his hands on my man's strong shoulders.

"How are you doing dad?" asked Tom as he turned around.
