Jack and Crutchie were looking for paint in Walmart, passing by every marker and crayon capable of being seen by their eyes.

"Jack", Crutchie says, looking at the hundreds of colors. "Do you think we could go to the books?"

Jack picked up a pack of Prisma Colors. "Yeah. Just...woah!"

Jack darted to the pack of colored pencils he saw. Crutchie rolled his eyes and walked off. By myself, then.

Crutchie walked to find the small book section. There was a smaller one closer to Jack, but he felt his brother needed time alone with his...color wheel.

He looked at the racks of books, cringing when he saw bad titles and covers and picking up anything interesting. So far, nothing seemed to interest him. Everything there was so bland and basic, until he saw it.

Living! Crutchie walked to the shelf and stared at the book he'd heard so much about from Davey (he's really good at picking interesting books. It's like a sixth sense or something).

Crutchie reached out to grab it, bumping hands with another kid trying to take the same book.

"Oh, sorry!" Crutchie jerked his hand back, looking at the kid. "I didn't see you."

"Um", they looked Crutchie up and down. "Yeah. I'm sorry."

"Here", Crutchie grabbed the book, handing it to them. "I'm Crutchie. He/him."

They smiled. "I'm Elmer, they/them", Elmer looked back at the book, "and I think you should take it."

"No", Crutchie held up a hand. "Take it. You probably saw it first."

Elmer pushed the book into Crutchie's hand, shaking their head. "Nope. I insist, take it. From me, to the cute boy at Walmart."

Crutchie flushed and shook his head. "I would flirt back, but I don't know...how."

Elmer laughed lightly, looking the cute blonde boy over with his eyes. "Well, then..."

They snatched the book out of Crutchie's hand, grabbing a pen from their pocket. Elmer signed something in it, handing it back to the blonde. "Here's a start."

Crutchie raised an eyebrow, his face turning red as Elmer grabbed his hand and placed a kiss on it.

"Why don't you tell me about that book later, huh?"

Crutchie stood in awe as Elmer walked away with a wink, leaving Crutchie in the aisle.

"And you're sure you have everything?" Jack rolled his eyes at the question, placing his last item on the belt.

"Yes, Crutchie dearest, I have everything", Jack looked at him, excitement in his eyes but a blank look on his face.

"I got all the supplies."

Crutchie rolled his eyes fondly as the cashier looked up from the computer. "Anything else?"

"Oh, yeah", Crutchie grabbed the book. "Thank you."

The cashier looked in it and raised a brow. "You sure you want this? It's marked up."

"Uh, yeah", Crutchie blushed, causing Jack to raise a brow. "It- it's supposed to be."

The cashier shrugged. "Okay."

Jack and Crutchie left the store together with hundreds of questions and empty answers.

But Crutchie left with ten new digits to add into his phone.

Yes, it is bed time, HOWEVER, I'm watching Supernatural, so...no sleep.

I hope this chapter was good for a short one.

Also, update on the new book: I finished the first chapter! It probably won't be released until I finish the entire story. Sorry. (Edit: It's released now)

Bye bye 🐸🎻
