Davey sat at his desk scrolling and going through bills.

His nights were always boring. They were always the same: Davey doing work until he fell asleep at one and woke up at three, struggling to fall asleep until four, only to wake up at five.

He knows it wasn't the healthiest, but it's what he's working with to pay the bills and buy food.

Davey sighed, rubbing his eyes as they stung, blinking them open and shaking his head. He took a sip of water, and looked back at the screen, sighing dreadfully. Stretching his hands out, he placed them back on the keyboard, clacking his fingers against the board.

He broke his concentration when he heard a door open. He looked at the door to find his little brother standing there, bags under his eyes.

"Les", he turning his chair towards the door, "why aren't you asleep?"

"Can't", Les shrugged, holding onto the door knob. "I wanna go for a drive."

Davey chuckled. "Les, you're 13. That's illegal."

"Well, I should at least practice, right?" Les let go of the doorknob and crossed his arms against his chest. "Then you won't have to haul me around."

Davey sighed, looking back at his computer. He could use a break- at least, that's what his friends would tell him; if he had any. He looked back at his brother, who looked like sleep was his enemy.

"Please?" Les clasped his hands together and pouted, which made him look like a very tired puppy.

Davey sighed and got up from his chair, walking to his closet. "Go put your shoes on."

Les smiled excitedly, and walked back to his room.

"Look", Les pointed at a building outside of the car. "It's the Old Pizzeria. Remember when mom and dad used to take us there."

"Yeah", Davey responds, his voice dead as he speeds up to get past the building.

Les frowned. "I miss them."

"Me, too, bub", Davey grabs Les' hand. "Me, too."

Les went back to looking out of the window. Davey stared out of the windshield as he drove. There was no actual destination they were going, he just wanted to be...somewhere. Somewhere other than his empty apartment.

He glanced over at Les to find him staring mindlessly out of the window.

"What are you thinking about?"

Les sighed and shrugged.

"Life, I guess."

Davey chuckled.

"You've barely lived it."

Les laughed bitterly.

"And even after everything, I know it's still not done with me yet."

Davey placed his hand in Les hair, hoping it would somehow get the kid to sleep.

Davey was sure they were driving in circles, despite not seeing the same buildings and people again. It felt routinely, and Davey was tired of routines. He just wanted to destroy any routine ever made and go back to normal. Before the Before.

Davey glanced at Les to find him asleep, looking peaceful for once. Davey found a parking lot and parked, resting his head on the headrest.

He just wanted to cry. To be able to release everything and feel nothing- but a good nothing.

To relax and go to sleep.

Oh my gosh this would be so good in a book or something oh my gosh-

Anyways, I hope this was okay. I feel like it started rocky at first, but the ending was pretty good. Feedback?

Bye✋🏾💃🏾🎻
