Heya, just a heads up- this is kinda sorta like my rant on what my school is kinda doing wrong right now. I know that others during covid are having a different experience than I am and I just want my readers to know that I am aware of that.

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy.

Cub quietly snaked his hand up and under the plastic visor that was over his face, brought said hand up to his face and pulled back the mask that he was wearing away from his mouth and nose for a second. He took another breath of fresh air before letting the face covering plop back into its proper position.

An action that he had been forced to do many, many times so he wouldn't black out.

With another heavy sigh, the Chemistry teacher set his elbow on his desk and awkwardly let his chin rest in the palm of his hand. He had to make sure that he didn't bump the plastic visor screen, or he'd be forced to readjust it.

His classroom was filled with quiet mutters and whispers as all his students were reading through the assigned chapter in the provided text books. What the kids were whispering about was beyond Cub's concern, and it was nice to not be in a dead silent room.

The seconds ticked by painfully slow. He had these kids for another forty eight minutes, then when the bell rang to signal the end of the period, they would trot to their next class and sit in there for another hour and twenty five-fucking-minutes.

With his ever sharp eyes, Cub scanned the room and looked over each one of the students that were sitting in the classroom. But instead of just looking for phones, he was looking to make sure that his students were wearing their masks correctly.

It was a daunting task because the student's always fought them on it.

Cub finally snapped his fingers and locked eyes with two students who were whispering on a different topic other than the assignment.

"Ladies, lift your masks over your noses. I don't want to see them." He grouched. Cub hated sounding pissy, but with whatever the hell was floating around in the air, he couldn't help it.

Cub watched as they rolled their eyes, but begrudgingly did as Cub had ordered them to.

With another bored sigh, Cub's eyes shifted down to some of the contents on his desk and he spaced out.

"I wonder what the others are doing right now?"

It was odd seeing all of his teacher friend's wearing masks and plastic visors. Usually it was only ever Ethos who wore a mask but now it was everybody. It was weird not being able to pull his mask down whenever he wanted and it was extremely weird to not be able to see his friend's faces.

The school day was just dragging on and on. The new block schedule ws wonky, but it allowed them to remain in person. It was just up to the students to try and play smart and remember the rules.

It was easier said than done.

Ethos currently had no in session class at the moment, so he was listening to Tango shout at one of the more spoiled students in school.

"I don't have to wear shit!"

"You know what? I'm sick of dealing with you. Get out of my classroom, Rick. Now." Tango finally trumped, leaving no room for further argument.

Ethos smiled behind his mask. If Rick were to talk back to Tango now when he was in this stage of rage, Ethos would be pretty sure that the whole school would hear the fiery blond explode.

Rick scoffed so audibly that Ethos could hear it. "And go where?"

Ethos heard Tango slam his hands down on his desk. "Get. Out. I don't care where you go. Just get out!"

For a moment, Ethos heard nothing but the angry screeching of metal chair legs scraping across the floor and booming footsteps of a pissed off student march out of the room. Then there was peace.

"Page three thirty seven to three forty. Read through those pages then look at the posted assignment. Just- please excuse me." Tango finally said. Speaking up after the moment of tense and shocked silence passed.

Ethos quietly shifted back and picked up a yard stick that was glued right to another one. His eyes fell on Tango's masked and visor-covered appearance as he stepped through the door that allowed quick and easy access between rooms that were other than the hall.

Tango's orange eyes locked with Ethos for a second before he gave a defeated sigh and grabbed the other end of the extended yardstick.

"I'm sorry you had to listen to that, Ethos." Tango mumbled, walking forwards as the English teacher led him into the empty classroom. "Rick just pissed me off today."

Ethos could only offer a hidden, sympathetic smile to his co-worker. "Xisuma will understand. Don't worry."

Tango drew his free hand up to his head and ran his fingers through his spiky hair. "It was still immature of me to raise my voice like I had. I lost my cool."

Ethos couldn't help but to laugh at the statement. "Don't we all lose our cools with some of these students?"

The bottom part of Tango's eyes lifted up. A clear sign that told the English teacher that he got Tango to smile.

"Yeah, I guess we all do."

Tango brought his free hand up and scratched the back of his head. "Aw man... these masks are a pain in the ass." He complained, adjusting the plastic visor that was over his face.

Ethos simply shrugged. "Well, it's either the masks and screens or the entire year online."

Tango nodded. "I know, I know. Technology can suck ass sometimes. And I'm sure our mental health would deteriorate from being isolated from each other for so long."

"I guess we're lucky then."

The two teachers fell silent for a moment. Both of them clearly just taking a moment to enjoy each other's company. Even if two yardsticks glued together separated them.

Finally, Tango spoke, breaking the silence. "Yeah. We are pretty lucky."

[Below is a rant that you can skip if you wish]

Alright, thanks for reading! I know I haven't been very active lately.

I guess you could say that I just needed a break from Hermitcraft things.
I had written so much about it that I just kinda sorta ran out of ideas and new ways to view them.

I'm still subscribed to all the Hermits that are actively posting videos, but my interests have been elsewhere for this window of time.

DON'T WORRY! I'm not gonna end this book because it's still so much fun to write in and add onto. Just on my own time.

It's also pretty cool to see how far I've come in my writing skills.

Anyways, please stay safe- even in the upcoming warmer weather!
