Chapter Forty-Nine: Protective Siblings

"Mother of Hades," they both swore.

There were two sets of the map's footprints showing near the tree. One of them was Krinos while the other was Sirius Black. And from how the footprints were moving, Black was either carrying or dragging Krinos. Harry's eyes turned into those of a lion while Melody's glowed bright purple.

"Someone's going to get vanquished tonight," Harry growled.

"You'll have to beat me to it," Melody said through her teeth.

"Nothing says that we can not vanquish him together," Harry responded.

The two got up, collected the map, and were immediately out of the library. They did not run, not wanting to draw any attention to themselves, but they walked as quickly as they could without drawing unwanted attention. They also had to hide their eyes since only the teachers and their friends knew about their powers.

"I think we should also collect Luna," Melody suggested. "Three mystic souls are better than two, even with how powerful we are."

"I've been wanting to see more of her powers in action, anyway," Harry commented.

"Luna may be as sweet as the pudding that she loves so much, but that girl has a scary side to her that I hope to hardly ever see," Melody says.

"I do think that there is a quote out there about fearing the anger of a gentle man," Harry said. "It probably works for the anger of a gentle girl as well."

Once the two were outside, they made a beeline for Hagrid's in order to get Luna. They nearly ran into the blond girl when she quickly came skipped up the path and into their sight. It happened so fast that they nearly ended up as a pile on the ground.

"Hello, you two," she greeted them with a smile. "Such a lovely evening for a run, isn't it?"

"Luna, Sirius Black has Krinos," Melody frantically told their friend. "They're heading toward the Whomping Willow."

"The mutt has gotten desperate," Luna says. "He saw the one he loved in trouble and wants to reveal himself sooner than he wanted to before. He wants to make sure his child all but blood remains safe."

Harry and Melody shared a look. Luna had been saying stuff like that all year, talking about "the mutt" and how he was innocent and misunderstood. They still had no idea what she was even talking about. But she was Luna, so she was just being her usual self. One day they would get a straight-forward answer from her but they currently did not have the time.

"Just come on, Luna," Harry told his friend.

The three took off toward the Whomping Willow. Luna was somehow still very calm. As they got closer to the tree, they saw a very familiar cloak with the Hufflepuff crest on it.

"KRINOS," Harry and Melody yelled.

They saw their brother disappear down a tunnel that's entrance seemed to be right through a hole in the tree trunk. They did manage to see that Krinos was being carried by something that was definitely not human.

"Was that a dog," Melody was shocked.

"Neville did say that Professor Trelawney has been predicting something involving a grim all year," Harry said.

"Why Divination is taught here is still beyond me," Melody remarked.

They soon heard a bark. Turning around, they saw their familiars heading their way. Frost landed on Luna's shoulder as Harry and Melody had to comfort Wolf and Selene.

"They were stunned," Luna stated as if it was obvious.

If Harry and Melody were not angry before, they sure were now.
