I opened the door, the first snow, covering the ground lightly as I walked out of the banquet hall. The icy wind hit my face, sending a shiver up my spine. I was waiting for Alex to pull the truck around. As I stood there in my backless black Vera Wang gown, I thought about how the months have passed so quickly. How close Alex and I are now and how good our relationship has been going. Kristen finally fell off our radar, this past month had been a drama free. When Alex finally pulled the truck around; I swiftly hopped in.

"Fuck, it is cold as fuck! I should've just walked with you." I say blowing into my cuffed hands and throwing my shawl in the backseat.

"I didn't want you walking in high heels to my truck with all the snow." He laughed, slipping out of his suit jacket, handing it to me. I slipped it over my shoulders, buckling my seat belt.

"Well I am glad we left early. I wasn't really thrilled about going to your parent's gala anyway." I say, the nervousness had yet settled. He grinned and pulled out of the hotel banquet parking lot. I was glad we had left, there were a lot of people I did not know or really wanted to know for that matter. Alex's parents threw this charity gala every year.

"So, how much money do your parents actually make at these charities every year?" I ask, twirling my hair in my fingers.

"Fuck if I know, they donate like a hundred grand every year towards it so maybe a million."

"Wow, that's great. I'm sure that the tax cut at the beginning over the year helps." I say mockingly, rolling my eyes. He laughed and grabbed my hand bringing it to his lips.

"This is why I love you Aubrey, you don't have a filter. You always tell it like it really is and you're never afraid to be honest." I smirked and pulled my hand from his grasp. I bit my lip, pushing the stray hair from my face.

"Yes, no filter what a girl loves to hear. I just don't get it I guess, but you grew up with money. So, I'd assume it doesn't really bother you that much being around a bunch of rich snobby assholes." He raised his eyebrow, smirking.

"Actually, I am the exact opposite of my parents. I was sure you knew that by now." he sighed, running a hand through his freshly cut hair.

"Yes, I did know that." I say, rubbing his cheek. "That is what I love about you." I gleamed.

As we pulled up to his house, he drove past the gates, parking his truck in the front of the long driveway. I got out of the truck, briskly walking up the driveway to the door. He opened it and I took my black peep toe Vera Wang pumps off as he grabbed his jacket from my shoulders.

"Do you want to go home? I mean my parents will probably stay at the hotel tonight. So, you could stay here tonight." His face was soft, I put my hand on his cheek; grazing lightly.

"Yes, baby I want to stay with you." I whispered.

"Let's go upstairs then, or did you want to hang out in the basement tonight?"

"Whichever you'd prefer." He grabbed my shoes from my hands and led me up the stairs. When we got to his room, he told me he was going to shower. I nodded and asked him for a change of clothes. He grabbed some shorts and a baggy shirt for me. He handed me the clothes and headed for the bathroom. I walked around his room, setting the clothes on the bed as I looked around. He had an old bookshelf filled with first edition novels. I grabbed a copy of Romeo and Juliet, softly turning the aged pages. It was in very good condition, and you could tell it had never been touched. I laugh to myself, Alex's mom must've wanted to give him some culture. I carefully put the book back on the shelf and saw a letter on Alex's desk.
