New Years' Eve is the most celebrated holiday in the world and having the perfect dress was always key for any New Years Eve party. I decided to take Steven with me, so he could get a nice dress shirt and a pair of slacks. He was not coming to a party without looking like the king he is. We walked through the mall, heading over to Macy's. Steven had found something at the Sears and I hadn't yet. I still had a few hundred left from my savings from working at the pet store last summer.

"What about this one?" Steven asked, pulling a golden sparked low cut dress. I cut my eyes at him and scoffed.

"You're kidding right? No way." I said, walking through the racks of dresses.

"I think it's festive." He rolled his eyes, chuckling.

"What about this one?" I ask, pulling a long black sparkly diamond cut dress off the rack. He nodded, shrugging.

"Yeah, that's nice but what about this one." He pulled a shorter black strapless, with white gems lined along it. I gagged, rolling my eyes.

"This isn't the prom and I wouldn't be caught dead in that at prom either." I scoff. I gasp when my hand slides across this beautiful purple, low cut sparkly dress.

"That's it! That's perfect for you!" Steven said excitedly. I pressed the dress against my skin, walking over to the standing mirror. It cut low in the chest, but I loved how it flowed at the bottom. I twirled, turning back into the mirror. I wouldn't be able to wear a bra in this but this is the dress. I looked down at the price tag, it was in my price range and I could get a new pair of pumps. I told Steven to go and grab a pretzel with our mother's credit card while I checked out. He shrugged and walked off as I made my way to the shoes. I grabbed a pair of black peep toe wedges in my size, heading to the checkout. I checked out, grabbing my bag and receipt from the cashier. As I made my way towards the mall entrance, I saw Kristen and an older woman walking through the department store toward the dresses. She instantly grabbed the golden sparkle dress from the rack, shaking it at the older woman. I scoffed, she really always had to dress like a trollop. A bitch trollop.

Steven and I made our way home, I gave him the timeline. Our mother would be home tomorrow morning at six. We had to be home and in bed before five, I wanted nothing more to not come home at all, but I didn't want to start my New Year off in a fight.

"We are going to be fine Aubrey, I have my permit. I can drive Alex's truck home, I don't even know anyone at this damn party. I don't understand why I can't just stay home." He grumbled, crumpling up his pretzel wrapper.

"Because what kind of sister would I be if I let you stay home on New Years' and mom said you had to come." I scowl at him. Even if my mother hadn't said anything I would've offered.

"Well I was either going to stay home or go to Jason's and play video games." He sighed, as I pulled in the driveway. I frowned, I felt bad for dragging him to a party he didn't even want to go to.

"Hey," I paused, turning toward him. "Do you really not want to go?" I ask, turning the car off.

"I mean not really, can't I please just go to Jason's. I promise, I'll come before midnight." He begged. I sighed, I know I was disobeying my mom.

"How about Alex and I pick you up at one or two from Jason's." I say, smiling at him. He hopped out of the car, excitedly jogging to the front door.

"Deal!" He yelled as he walked into the house. I was excited about tonight, it was my last party with my friends and I was determined to enjoy it.

As I finished putting my make-up on, I looked myself over in the mirror, the purple complimented my mocha skin so well. It hung just below my knees, flowing around my legs. I look fucking hot! I twirled in the mirror, dancing a little and winking at myself, before turning off the light. I knocked on Steven's door.
