Concealed Evil

The dark clouds thicken

A chilled wind blows

Dead grass rustles in the wind

The wind howls chilling your bones

The furry little animals scurry for cover

In burrows, hollows and caves

The lightning flashes

And thunder shakes the earth

A little girl stands on a hill

Not shivering from the cold

Nor flinching from the storm

As always she stands alone

Deemed mad by all

Even her own mother

None dare go near her

In fear they will become like her

The wind sings

The sky flashes

The earth trembles and rumbles

The little girl stands alone

A door opens revealing a woman

She flinches from the flashes and rumbles

Jumping back inside gripping the door

Men rush out as her tears fall

The men rush out to the little girl

Holding instruments of pain

Fear in their eyes

Scowls on their faces

Surrounding the girl like hyenas

She shows no fright

Yet the men do

Angry accusations rise directed at the girl

She shakes her head in denial

Claiming she is not evil

Only different

She sees the darker side of life

And does not hide from it

A man so angry that he attacks

They are delusional from the pain

Pain they think she has caused

They bring up the knife up

Ending her life

They look upon her body without shame

No idea of the mistake they made

That it wasn't going to stop the pain

Only cause confusion

In a cave looking over them

Stands a woman

Her long black hair blows in the wind

The air crackling with energy

A sinister smile spreads across her face

'What fools!

They destroyed a little girl

Mistaking her for me'

Her cackling life was carried to the villagers far below

The men looked up from the corpse

Looking around widely in fear

Fearful of the unknown

It was that moment they realized

It was not the little girl

The witch was still out there

The little girl was innocent

Their pain would continue

Evil was not vanquished

She would continue to cause pain

It wouldn't decrease

Only increase

The woman ran out tears streaming

'What have you done?' she cried

'My daughter was not evil'

She fell at their feet sobbing

But it ended quickly

A light flashed down from above

Not lightning

Something pure evil

It struck the woman dead

As her body fell they looked up

Just in time to see the silhouette of a lady

Her cackling laugh

The men ran back in fear

Hoping to protect their families

To save them from the same fate

From the evil witch

'Fools!' she screeched

Never will she stop

Not till they suffer

Endure what they've done to those she loved

The wind sings

The sky flashes

The earth trembles and rumbles

Dead grass rustles in the wind

As the village is plagued by an evil witch
