George's POV

"Who. Are. You," she asked.

"Kat, it's me. George. You hate me remember. And I hate you. And we always seem to run into each other. Well it's always me who runs into you, but still. Please remember. Please, please, please remember."

I was panicking now. She couldn't forget. She couldn't. Why do you care? You just said you hated her. And it's not like you have any feelings go her at all, I ignored the stupid little voice in the back of my head.

I met her eyes. Those intense green eyes stared back at me. She couldn't have just forgotten everything. She still looked the same, but I knew that the inside was different know. She had no memories of me, or Hogwarts, or magic, and who knows what else.

I met her eyes for a moment. She did something that surprised me. She grinned. Seconds later she was laughing hysterically. I was shocked. I literally had nothing to say. I usually was the one with all the pranks. No one has ever pulled one over on me. Never.

She gasped for breath. "Oh my god, I totally had you fooled. You should've seen your face. It was absolutely priceless." She continued to laugh.

Her laugh was sweet. It sounded like the musical chimes my mum kept outside the back door. I couldn't help but grin.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got me good. Just don't expect this to happen again."

"You can never be sure Georgie. I'm always full of surprises."

She used the nickname my brothers gave me.

Kathryn's POV

An hour later I was released from the hospital wing. I've got to admit it. My prank on George was pretty good. For a second he looked genuinely worried for me. I was still having a good laugh about it. And I would be sure to bring it up to Fred when I had the chance.

For the next couple weeks George was apparently supposed to 'monitor' me. Everyday he was supposed to ask how I was feeling, make sure I didn't have a loss of coordination or memory, and escort me everywhere. I mean everywhere. Madam Pomfrey made it very clear that he was never supposed to let me out of his sight unless I was with Angelina in the bathrooms, or up in the girls dormitories. This wasn't going to be fun.

You know you're probably going to enjoy it. I was really starting to hate this voice. I realized I had no idea where I was going. I was going to have to rely on George to get me back to the common room. I hated having to rely on others. I was more of a lone wolf.

George held opened the portrait for me as I climbed in. I immediately got dizzy and sat in an armchair. George ran over, his eyes full of concern.

"Kat. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. We just really have to stop running into each other like that."

He laughed. It reminded me of the bells I hung outside my bedroom window. Light and musical. I couldn't help but grin.

"What are you smiling at Kathryn?" He said, the smirk clear on his face.

I hid my face in my hands. "Oh god. Don't call me that. It's a horrible name. You can call me Kat, Kate, Katie, or anything else. I don't care. Just not Kathryn."

"Whatever you say Kathryn."

I playfully smacked his arm. "George, knock it of." I tried for a serious tone, but my laughter ruined it.

Someone came down the stairs. It was the girl prefect. Crap. I stopped laughing and George looked behind him to see her standing over us.

"What are you doing out of bed? It's 2 am in the freaking morning! You better have a good explanation for this."

George gave her a charming smile. It really is charming, my inner voice chimed in. God I really need to get her under control.

"Well you may have heard of the first year who was hurt earlier and taken to the hospital wing. That's her," he said while gesturing to me, "and you see Madam Pomfrey released her a little while ago and had me promise to watch over her. She wasn't feeling well and almost passed out again, so I had her sit down for a bit."

That seemed to do the trick. The prefect's expression softened. "Okay then. Off to bed. And do you want any help getting up the stairs," she asked me kindly.

"No,no I'm fine. I was dizzy, but now I'm better."

She nodded and began up stairs. I started to follow her. Before I went up the stairs I turned back. George was starting up the stairs as well. He turned around, winked at me, and then ran up the rest if the stairs. I blushed slightly on the way back to my room. I opened the door quietly and laid down. I quickly fell into a dreamless sleep.
