Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery
Houston, Texas
Due to her suicide attempt, Dana had to be placed under 24 hour suicide watch for over a month.
It was only by the grace of God, along with the doctors down at Houston Methodist Hospital, that helped to save Dana's life.
At times, she wished they hadn't.
They were better off letting her drown anyway. Even though they were able to revive her, it was much too late for anyway; her soul had already died in the bathtub.
Dana could never truly forgive herself, knowing that Dino spent the last few hours of his life, hurting, and it was all to her doing.
How could anyone go on with life knowing this?
She never tried to take her life again, once it was embedded into her brain, that leaving her kids behind would be such a selfish move, thanks to Keke.
Those kids had been through enough as it is, how selfish would it be of Dana to make them suffer the same pain twice?
Because she wasn't able to fully recover from Dino's passing anyway, it was almost as if they had lost both of their parents. Due to her depression and on again off again drinking addiction, Dana wasn't able to fully connect with her children the way she used to, when they were kids.
That strong bond she once had with her children, had wasted away to nothing.
Nowadays, she had trouble looking her children in the eyes. She couldn't bear to see the pain behind them.
Dino's death effected a lot of people in many different ways, but it was his children who'd suffered the most.
The kind of bond he had with them, is the kind that would never be replaced. Those were some mighty big shoes, that Dana simply did not have the means to fill.
Instead of being the strong woman they needed her to be, she distanced herself from them.
Which is why they all grew up with their own personal demons to deal with, that even a little bit of prayer wouldn't help to solve.
How they chose to deal with their father's death, being one of them.
"Dana! Dana! Dana!"
Dana could hear the faint calling of her name by her sisters in the far distance, but she chose to ignore them.
She continued to cry, until she was suddenly snatched up by her arm. Kayla locked her hands firmly around Dana's arms and pulled her upward, "Dana, what is the matter with you? How could you just run off like that huh?!!"
Because of how hard she shook Dana, made it difficult for her to respond.
Terrika soon came running behind them, her bum leg made it quite difficult for her to keep up with her sister, but she was able to get there, "Kayla! Leave her alone alright? She's been through enough as it is, just please let her go."
"I'm not hurting her Terrika, alright? She can't be by herself! You remember what happened, the last time she was left alone?!" Kayla yelled rhetorically, referring to Dana's suicide attempt.
Though that happened many years ago, there was still a fear in the back of Kayla and Terrika's mind, that she may do it again.
Only this time, no one would be around to save her.
That wasn't on Kayla's mind when she first let a drunken Dana flee from her home, it was in fact Terrika who had to remind her. Now she was worried sick for her baby sister.
